Chris Walker Still Waiting On Kentucky To Offer

When the July evaluation period kicked off, one of the hot 2013 names for Kentucky fans was Chris Walker, a 6’10” power forward rated by Rivals as the #3 overall player in his class. He famously slept through Calipari’s phone call when the recruiting period kicked off in June and said back around Christmas that the Cats were #1 on his list. Since then, John Calipari has been keeping tabs on him and his Florida Rams teammates, two of whom earned scholarship offers last month. Walker, however, hasn’t received a scholarship offer yet and is still singing the same tune. He thinks it’s coming soon and he’s still very interested in Kentucky – so interested, he plans on visiting.

Here is what he had to say to CBS’ Jeff Borzello of Blood:

One school noticeably absent from that list of offers is Kentucky. The Wildcats have offered juniors Kasey Hill and Malik Price-Martin, who also play in the Florida Rams AAU program.

“They may offer soon,” Walker said.

Although it’s still early in the process, five schools are standing out for the rising junior.

“I’m really feeling Florida, Kentucky, Ohio State, Kansas and Florida State,” he said.

With Adidas Nations over, he plans on taking trips to Kentucky, Ohio State, Florida, Kansas and Alabama.

Then, just a few minutes ago, Walker Tweeted out this:

An offer has to be coming, right?  Right?!?!?!

An thoughts on why the offer has not come yet? Could it be because of nerlens Noel? The fact he is the overall #3 and seems to really want the UK offer makes him seem like a great fit.

He’s a lot of fun.. he would definitely be the KSR buddy-buddy guy of his class, and obviously he’s one of the best out there. However, he’s also pretty immature and says some things on twitter that would get him lambasted at UK, so I hope he grows up a bit before we offer him.

Can you imagine a class of the Harrison twins, Chris Walker, and Nerlens Noel?

No offer yet could be because of grades, general maturity, or because of Julius Randle.

It seems weird that UK wouldn’t offer a top 5 player who seems to be dying to commit, BUT…if he’s a little immature, if he has any grade issues, and if you have a shot at someone who’s even better- or any combination of those 3 things- then it does make sense to hold off, if you can do it without driving him away.

He played like garbage in Orlando. Didn’t show any reason to be ranked so high.

He’s a slightly more skilled CJ Leslie. Great athlete, long arms, has the cool kid syndrome.
