This has been mentioned in a couple o’ the boards, but I thought it deserved a shout out. My fellow former Maysvillian Chris Lofton dropped 17 3-pointers and a (naturally) career high 61 points while playing in Turkey over the weekend, as Lofton’s Mersin BSB defeated CASA TED Kolejiler 116-70. I don’t know what all those words near the end of that last sentence meant, but I assume they’re Turkish for basketball team names. You can find the article here.
The best thing, also, is this: all of us, even the most stubborn of UK supporters, have no excuse not to unite behind Lofton — because he’s not technically a Volunteer anymore. Lofton’s one of our own and no longer our rival. Congrats to the former Mr. Basketball on a job well-done. 61 points is impressive in any language, and our man from KY deserves the accolades.
