Chip Cosby tells us more about the QB situation

As we sit with bated breath for the announcement of who will sing at our practice start at quarterback for our beloved football squad this weekend, the immaculately well-dressed Chip Cosby tells us that whether Morgan Newton or Henderson County’s own Will Fidler starts under center, they’re going to have a tough time. I tend to agree, as an SEC road game is tough for anyone, but to have to debut a new quarterback at War Eagle Stadium is borderline crazy.

Still, Papa Brooks seems reluctant to name his starter just yet, instead choosing to do those of us who write about this sort of thing a favor. Brooks said “Besides, that gives you guys more stuff to write about [check] and have fun with [check] and do your polls on who should start [and check]. This is more fun for you than if I say ‘so and so is starting.’ I’m giving you some cannon fodder.” Thanks, Coach.

Cosby also took the time to look at the first start for each of Kentucky’s last five starting quarterbacks. Lorenzen threw for, and weighed, a ton. Tim Couch was pitiful, Mike Hartline was himself and the last time a Kentucky QB made his first start at Auburn, we lost 42-10 in Andre Woodson’s debut. Take a look at the stats below. What do they tell us? Pretty much nothing, but you’ll have way more fun reading them than scouring the internet for a video of a black bear fighting a cougar. Actually, here. Let me take care of that for you. There you go. Now enjoy the stats and a black bear fighting a cougar.

And, for the record, if you are going to explore the internet for a video like the one linked above, you might want to make sure you have the safesearch turned on when you enter, “cougar takes on a black bear.” Just FYI.
