And so, all good things must come to an end. Today, the good thing that must end is this contest quest for Cliff Briggs. Cliff took us all the way back to 1990 for his post, but found himself in a tough group with one of the favorites, Patrick Barker, and the most unique contestant this year, the song-singing Caleb Epley. Cliff’s work was good, but his piece just didn’t stack up to Barker’s on quality or Epley’s on creativity, and thus his ride had to end.
Barker was the strongest contestant today, as his recap of UK-Vandy 2003 had all the elements we’re looking for, and even garnered the respect of some of his competitors in the comment section. Epley’s song was a new twist on Jodie’s dominant performance in Knoxville and his style deserves to be taken to the masses for voting. That’s what will happen in the next round, as once the field is narrowed to ten we’ll start letting the fans in on a little bit of the action. To Cliff, we bid you a fond farewell and the best of fortunes in whatever you may do. Tomorrow, Mosley will be making the final cut to our top-10, so be sure to tune in.
