With rumors swirling of a possible decommitment by Chane Behanan, his AAU coach, Ken Taylor, wanted to make it clear that at this time, he believes that Chane’s commitment to UC is firm. Taylor said, “Not that I’m aware of. The last time I spoke to him it seemed like that commitment was pretty solid.”
We spoke a bit about the rumors and the move by Chane’s family to Bowling Green, Kentucky and that a lot of speculation was pointed towards Chane’s possible interest in local schools. I asked Taylor about that speculation and whether Chane might have expressed any interest to him in any of the state schools and he said, “If by some strange reason that something were to happen, I mean, there’s always that possibility, he is a John Calipari fan. I do know that and I think Memphis was one on his final list before he chose Cincinnati, so UK would probably be an option.” None of the other schools were mentioned by Taylor.
Chane is a 6’6″ forward and will be graduating with the class of 2011. He is ranked by Rivals.com as the #86 player in the class of 2011 and is a 4 star forward.
Update: Full Court Preps, citing an unknown source, says that Chane has in fact re-opened his recruitment. The source told Full Court Preps that Chane would like to take his time and make an informed decision.
Update #2: Just got word from BC Thomas of 1340 WBGN Fox Sports Radio that Chane’s new head coach at Bowling Green, DG Sherrill, confirmed Chane’s de-commitment tonight. Looks like this one is now official.
Update #3: Pretty hardcore article by the Cincinnati Rivals site, talking about “what’s really going on” with Chane’s decommitment.
