Chad Ford thinks this could be one the best college basketball seasons ever

Today on the KSR Radio show, Matt Jones talked about a podcast he listened to that featured ESPN’s Chad Ford. During the podcast, Ford discussed the upcoming year in college basketball. Ford made some very bold statements, many of which pertained to Kentucky. Ford referred to this year’s Kentucky basketball team as a “super team.” In fact, Ford went as far as to say that this Kentucky team is 1 of the 3 largest groups of talent in the history of college basketball. The only thing keeping this team from being THE hands down best collection of talent ever assembled is the fact that Andrew Wiggins picked Kansas.

With all of that said, Ford said the trouble for Kentucky could be that this just might be one of the best years ever in college basketball across the board. It will certainly be one of the best in recent memory. Across the country there will be a number of great teams with great returning players. Players like Marcus Smart chose to stay another year in college basketball. The “blue blood” teams appear to all be back in true form after somewhat of a hiatus last season.

Ford believes that a handful of teams this year would have won the national championship had they played last year. He believes that at least 5 teams would have likely been at least slightly better than the Louisville team that won. Ford listed Kentucky, Michigan State, Duke, Arizona and even this year’s Louisville team as teams that could have won last year.

The 2013-2014 men’s college basketball season promises to be a great one. It could be one of the best seasons in college basketball history… and Kentucky will be the team to beat.

@1 I know, right. Chad Ford is full of bologna. Louisville is the greatest sports dynasty that ever lived and last year’s Louisville team could have easily beaten the Miami Heat for the championship if not for stupid technicalities like not technically being a part of the NBA or not having any legitimate NBA player. But they played as a team, Joe, a team!! Something the 2012 cats were severely lacking. Cal just rolled the ball out there and each player had to get his (10 points).

I think I want some of whatever Mr. Ford is having. UL lost their point guard and their center and have no adequate replacements for either. Duke is down with injuries. Saying Michigan state is as good as he thinks appears to me to be a bit of a stretch. While it would take very little for this year to be better than last, I just don’t see that many teams being all that good.

I am so glad that kitty kat fans are blind to what goes on with other teams. THIS YEAR IS LOADED with talent at other schools. NOT one team is guaranted to win it this year

10, no team is ever guarenteed. But one team (UK) that has the most knowledge based fans in the world knows that already.

They said the same thing in 2012– lots of great teams around and the blue bloods were good too. We saw how that worked out

10- we are aware this is a great yr for college basketball, not like one of the worse years in recent history that it took for UL to finally win one for Ricky 3 stacks

UL fans sure love reading UK news.. guess cuzz they dont really have anything going on in their lives. Don’t worry, one day the government will stop sending those unemployment checks and you all will have to get a job.

10, I just looked in my wallet, and here it is, a guarantee for UK to win the championship! So that settles it; I’ve got the paper in my hands. I thought I saw the guarantee in there last night, and I found it!

@5 – Defending champs are usually (not always) overrated for the next season. Takes a special program to lose the starting point guard and center from a final four team and win it all the next year like UK did in 2012. The only ranking that counts is who’s on top April 7th in Arlington, Tx. I agree with you that UL is vastly overrated this year, but so what?

Yup. Kentucky fans know nothing about a team of theirs being vastly overrated…cough cough…last year…cough cough
