From a Malone’s in St. Louis that has yet to be visited (that we know of) by Billy Clyde:
— A poster at TCP created this great link of Cawood Ledford calling a 1980 game vs Ohio State. I havent listened to the broadcast yet, but I cant wait to turn it on as Cawood is the best there ever was and a memory of my childhood. If you have never heard the legend call a game or just want a good memory, check it out.
— The voting for SEC Player of the Week is a joke. John Wall still hasnt been picked yet and he might win NATIONAL Player of the Year. Ridiculous.
— Some of you have asked for behind the scenes trip notes that showcase the “KSR” part of this personality. Here are four:
— Drew met Kid Rock at the Michigan State game and went up to him to ask for a picture. Kid Rock didnt even move a facial expression as he looked into the camera and simply walked away. I think part of that is due to Drew’s current smell.
— If there is a person who snores louder than Chris, “my name is now CM for this trip” Tomlin, we should send him after Al Qaeda. We have officially made Tomlin promise that he will go to bed last just so there is even a miniscule chance that we can get to sleep through the night. Imagine your grandfather gargling while running a lawnmower…that is Tomlin when he snores.
— Everywhere we go, we get a quick change in reactions. At first as we walk in, people seem excited that “CBS Sports” is in the building. They give us good seats, ask if they can help with anything and the student newspaper folks come and introduce themselves. Then they see my hair, Drew’s lack of shaving and Tomlin’s wrinkled shirt and you can almost see their expression change to “how in the world do THESE guys work for CBS Sports?” It has been an almost clockwork-like progression.
— If you went by the radio stations around these various Universities and on the highways of the Midwest, you would think that there are only two popular songs in America. The KSR crew now knows the words to “Hillbilly Bone” and “Bedrock” better than any besides the old “Lazy Tuesday” gem by Daniel Solzman. We are liable to break into either one at any moment.
We are going to be in Lexington for a pit stop tomorrow…if you have ideas of what you would like to see make it to the CBS blog, email us at [email protected] Keep supporting the writers holding down KSR…they are doing a great job.
