Cats To Play Maryland In Brooklyn

barclay-center

Mark down an opponent for the basketball Cats during the 2012-13 season.  According to a report out of New York, Kentucky will help open the $1 billion Barclays Center in Brooklyn with a game against Maryland in the fall of 2012.  The building, which will house the NBA’s New Jersey Nets, is currently under constuction and will open in September 2012 as the crown jewel of NBA arenas.  Somewhere, Ramel Bradley is celebrating loudly and throwing up the diamond one time.  And, to think, it seemed like only fines and cool pictures of Eloy Vargas could come out of hanging around Jay-Z.

You can check out what are pretty incredible plans for the 675,000 square foot arena by looking at artist renderings here.

Did anyone else find themselves paying more attention to the funny people cast in the images. Some of my favorites, see if you can find these without me specifically telling you where to look:

    1) The girl by herself with a beer with her arm randomly cheering

    2) The guy with his hand on his gf’s butt

    3) The lady prostitute sticking out her leg in a tight short skirt at a guy who happens to be with another lady…

    4) The random enlarged kids in the bottom left corner high fiving each other…

    5) The little kid in the teal shirt who seems to be lost who must be thinking why is this place so big…

Just hope McGary is there as a Cat and not as a Turtle. He mentions them prominently when he talks about schools recruting him hardest.

Once again, Cal “gets it”. For those who think this was not that great of a “Ka-boom”, yet ANOTHER thing we now have to sell 2012 recruits… go play in a brand new arena in New York. Love the way Cal sells our brand… always at the biggest and brightest spots.

Maryland, Duke, and UNC early in 2012-13. If Cal keeps scheduling like this he may have to drop Lil Brother to make room for some proper competition.

Drummond, Ledo, Coleman, McGary, all from this area. Can’t hurt to tell these recruits their first game will be close to home and their families can be close. Just sayin

Looked at the pictures and I have one question. Where’s that artist from? I’ve been to Brooklyn a few times and no one dresses like that.

My bro-in-law lives about a 10 minute walk from the new arena. This might give me and the wife another excuse to pay them a visit. According to my bro-in-law, the locals aren’t very happy about the new arena because congestion in that area is already awful…folks there think it’s gonna be gridlock on nights they have games and concerts.
