Cats Lead at Halftime Despite Puking

The Kentucky women’s basketball team are leading 40-31 against the seventh seeded Dayton Flyers at halftime, but more importantly they’re doing so while also battling a tough stomach virus. The bug is┬ábothering Azia Bishop, Kastine Evans, and now…Samarie Walker. According to Jen Smith, Walker had to run over to the bench mid-play to throw up in a trash can. The bad thing….she missed the trash can. There had to be a group timeout to clean up the vomit, which the announcers on ESPN2 called perspiration…right…

The Cats have forced 14 turnovers and A’dia Mathies leads the team with 15. 20 minutes away from a Sweet 16. Let’s do this Cats.

Cats were up by 15 with 3 plus mins. in first half and took 9 point lead into halftime. Hope they can keep it together long enough to pull it out and not copy the men’s flameout.

630 WLAP was quite clear as to what was going on. Apparently, she came out of the timeout with a different numbered jersey on too!

UK up 8 with 12 minutes left. Mathies is hot with 19 points and Stallworth has 10. Dayton can shoot the ball. 12/13 at ft line and shooting 50% from field. Big story is that UK has taken 51 shots to Dayton 32. We have forced 19 turnovers and we have 10 off rebounds.

UK now up 8 with 8 minutes left. Dayton ball as we just had a turnover. Mathies is really on fire. Now has 26 points on 10-14 shooting{5-6 from three}. O’neill is having a very bad game, 1-11 from field with 5 turnovers. Better stay ahead by 6 plus points as this Dayton team can shoot.

UK up 75-67 with 3:04 left in game. If we hang on looks like we will play Delaware as they lead 3 seed UNC by 7 with a minute to go. They are playing on home court of Delaware.

84-70 final….Mathies was really really good scoring 33 on 13-17 shooting. O’Neill had 8 turnovers and shot 1-11 from field and we win by double digits. We are moving on to play Delaware in Sweet Sixteen. C-A-T-S C-A-T-S C-A-T-S

Great win for the gals…wonder if the men took notice of what could be done with guts while puking at same time. All the men can do is puke. That center for Delaware (Delle Donne) will be hard to stop with home crowd etc. She is 6’5″ and has scored over 3000 pts..also hits 91% from FT line. We will need O’Neil and Mathis on same page to have a chance.

@22 – don’t know if you refer to the site or the visitors, but how many posts would there be if the men’s team just got to the S16? I’m just happy for our team. May be our final four year for Hoops. With you all the way!

#15 you are stupid. Just because the girl is sick doesn’t mean she is pregnant. The whole team is battling a stomach virus. You think the whole team is pregnant?
KSR needs to a better job at supporting UK hoops and getting fans to rally behind these ladies.

Victoria Dunlap, Amber Smith, Keyla Snowden and A’dia Mathies are having a great time joking around on twitter. It’s great to see the graduates supporting their former teammate.
25 – The game will not be on Delaware’s home court. It will be on UConn’s home court.

Game is in Bridgeport, not actually on UConns home court but close enough to give them a huge edge.

  32. mashburnfan1

We are getting ahead here as we have to beat Delaware and UConn does play Maryland. Both teams should win and we would have to be near perfect to beat UConn. They are not undefeated{4 losses} so they can be beat. O’Neill must get on track if we are moving on though.

  33. You told part of the story #32
    10:48 pm March 26, 2013 Permalink

UConn has four losses–one by single digits to #1 Baylor and the other three all within single digits to #2 Notre Dame. Once you dig into the details it doesn’t look as favorable. Don’t be deceived its the same old UConn–who incidentally took fellow SEC foe Vanderbilt to the woodshed by 33 the other night. A larger win margin than any SEC team put on them this season.

33 – UConn looked huge compared to Vandy. They aren’t just tall, they are BIG. At any rate, Delaware has to be beat first before looking forward to the next game. One step at a time. Let’s hope our ladies can get well and be at 100% strength for the next game.
