Cats Jump In Recruiting Rankings Following Ware’s Commitment

Composite team rankings from 247Sports soon after Ware’s commitment

With this afternoon’s commitment from Denzel Ware, Stoops Troops and company have been making moves in various recruiting rankings. On 247Sports, the Cayuts jumped seven spots (from #21 to #14), while Rivals updated them to #12 nationally (placing them ahead of SEC hot shot schools such as LSU and Florida, as well as Ohio State, Penn State, and Oklahoma).

Ware, a four-star defensive end from Florida, is rated as the #45 player overall in his class by 247Sports and the #80 player overall by ESPN. At 6-3 and 220 pounds, Ware has given UK fans following his recruitment a bit of a roller coaster ride- originally committing to Florida State, then UK, then decommitting from UK, and now finally settling on the Cats once and for all. This weekend’s visit to Lexington (his first) apparently sealed the deal. Stoops puts on a helluva camp, apparently.

It’s Stoops’ world, and we’re just living in it.

It is funny how UL fans give UK fans sooo much crap, yet they are not even pulling in a class that a “top-10 football program” (AD) should pull in, especially off of a Sugar Bowl victory. Now, UK is coming off of a horrid year, and this new staff is getting it done.

Penn State is on probation and can only afford to offer so many scholarships a year. I don’t think they’re worth mentioning being ahead of.

until I see this kid signed and even on the field in a game I will wait to get excited as he has changed his tune many times already. If he does end up here it will be great.

I dont know why KSR keeps focusing on early 2014 rankings when we all know the great players wait to sign so LSU, Florida, etc will pass UK before its all over .. they know this and this is false hope

6–they have to fill space. and if they write anything the least bit non-UK related, commentors jump down their throats.

I am happy to see the class this high, but also realize that it is a long way until signing day 2014. Hopefully he stays committed here, but we all know how that sometimes goes. I also hope Stoops can bring this kind of success to the field!! Having every spot open to freshman is something that can not be measured. When he walks in to a recruits home and says “you can come in and play right away as a freshman in the SEC, the 3rd best conference in football… only behind the NFC and AFC.” That is something you can not pay enough money for!

@6 I don’t know why people like you keep posting shit like that. It’s June, man. This is the type of news we get in Kentuckyland around this time. I mean damn it’s not like its September with football starting and the basketball team a couple months away from their first game. Get over it.

You’ve got to give it up for Mark Stoops, he came to UK with a plan and so far his brainchild has delivered us top level coaches, players, and excitement from recruits and the fanbase alike. I know the final step of his plan is when they step on the field to go get respect in the SEC.

Funny how you use whichever ratings show the highest. Rivals downgraded Ware to a (5.7) 3 Star. Love the consistency at KSR.

well that is good that the cats are ahead of osu and lsu. however the rivals quality rating is uk 3.27, lsu 3.67 and osu 3.57, and I guarantee that lsu and osu have some very good commitments coming which will make their quality rating go higher. I will take quality everyday over quantity. but yeah go stoops, much better than joker for sure.

also a quick look at 247 recruiting ratings show uk at 87.09 lsu at 91.90 and osu at 91.33. again I will take quality over quantity. but yeah go stoops.

The bottom line is that in any of the years that Joker or even Brooks was here were we ever in the top 25 recruiting wise Ever? How many Rivals top 250 guys did we get then. Look at how many Stoops has gotten. Stoops took the 77th ranked class in 2 months and got us a top 30 class… You honestly think if you give the man and his staff a year they can’t do better? Technically we haven’t gotten any points for Flanigan yet… Because they haven’t evaluated jucos yet and many believe he is a 4 star guy. Ware will get his 4th star back eventually but be happy with our 5.7 three star guys… Joker and company were stuck with the 5.5 guys… Which is a huge difference. So shut up with all the negativity… This class will be a top 20 class… Vandy was 19th last year with 5 four star players… Right now, we are looking at having more than 5…

@#14-Don’t complain to Matt about Cayuts, he’s the one who coined it. I guess you don’t listen to his radio show because he says it fairly often.

@11-What’s wrong with using the highest ranking? There are numerous organizations who issue All American designations in college, but not every player is on each of the lists. Should they mention the ones they failed to make or the one’s that named them an All American? Of course you should focus on the highest.
