Cats Have Their Defensive Line Coach

Kentucky has a Defensive Line Coach and the emphasis was once again on recruiting. Jimmy Brumbaugh will join the Kentucky staff according to Football Scoop as the Cats’ Defensive Line coach. He comes to Kentucky from East Mississippi Community College, but before that, he was on the Syracuse staff and was a part of the 2007 LSU national championship team staff as well. He is known as a fierce recruiter and worked with new UK Secondary coach Bradley Dale Peveto at LSU as well.
Another example of Stoops’ emphasis on the recruiting game.

Can he coach?
Stoops has really impressed me with his hires and recruiting emphasis. I’m really getting into football again. I truly beleive we are making good choices and doing so the best we can.
Any idea on when contract terms for the assistants will be released? Will be interesting to compare the amount spent on this staff compared to previous ones (I’m not complaining on the upgrade).
Did we have this many coaches with Joker? Or is this just that I’m caring more about football?
well i don’t know how y’all consider this a good hire. he is obviously declined over the years for a reason. why didn’t he stay with LSU and move to East Mississippi College?…..obviously he has a problem in coaching or he wouldn’t have gone down pretty far in the coaching ranks…UK low football standards? i think so
That community college is loaded with stud recruits coached by him. Players landing all over the SEC. Especially the D linemen. Hope they follow him.
Very impressed with the Stoops!!
Really??? You do know there are tiers of coaching, right?? I’m sure his capacity at LSU, was smaller than his coaching position at East Mississippi College. He may have even been a graduate assistant. Sometimes you coach at smaller schools to take on a bigger role.
5) why don’t you look things up before you judge. He was the strength and conditioning coach at lsu and left lsu to be an assistant at la tech then went to Syracuse.
#5 – he was just a strength coach at LSU not the D-Line coach. He was a D-Line coach for Syracuse but it looks like they made him one of the scapegoats for a bad season on defense and let him go.
He had two all big east d linemen but when Syracuse struggled they made coaching changes. If you look at SUs record brumbaugh obliviously wasn’t the problem.
wash st finds that leach in the clear over abuce claims

I like the emphasis on recruiting because Ky only has so many good players in state and we need to recruit well out of state, but at some point I think we also need to be hiring coaches known for their player development and not just recruiting. Schlarman does seem to fit this mold, but I think with Joker we saw that good recruiting can only get you so far.
Do coaches get nicknames? Brumbaugh should be called “Big Morpheus” based on that photo.
Looks and sounds like a great guy. I’m really impressed. Can’t wait for UK vs Western game!
So what are some legitimate expectations for this years recruiting class? I know we already have some kids committed, will all of those be honored? Also, what players are known to be considering following some of our new coaches to Kentucky? I keep hearing that we’re assembling a great recruiting staff (and I don’t doubt it), I’m just curious about what to expect. It would be cool if Rashawn would do a piece about recruiting targets, or whoever is most on top of that.

Not bad
I think this guy might be the reason behind this..http://247sports.com/Player/ZaDarius-Smith-18557 If stoops can pull this off, big props.
Joker being some amazing recruiter is a JOKE. He was average at best. CJP could not even get visits for the Trinity kids.
19 – Yeah joker phillips who is now the RECRUITING COORDINATOR at Florida and just flipped this guy from clemson to florida http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Demarcus-Robinson-124732 … He’s a horrible recruiter. He is great at recruiting, good coordinator, and bad head coach. It’s as simple as that.
What this hire really does is give us an inside track into two of the best juco areas…kansas with darrin hinshaw, and mississippi with jimmy brumbaugh. Juco recruiting was a major area we were lacking in previously.
20) All that proves is that joker is a great recruiter of guys with the first name Demarcus or last name of Robinson. Demarcus sweat, demarco Robinson, we have seen that story before.
I don’t know about this? Recruiters are great, but someone has to coach them. Hope these minor positions are simply recruiting positions and the 3 major coaches do the coaching…If this is the case, keep on hiring. Maybe we need an Onside Kickoff While Down By at least 15 Points Coordinator….who can recruit!
By the way east Mississippi CC currently has 3- 4 star recruits and 3- 3 star recruits. Some of this recruits have already committed to ole miss, miss state and Florida. Looks like a great place to get talent. Juco is an area that joker slacked on while here.
I doubt stoops would hire all of his position coaches to just recruit. Brumbaugh and Marrow ae both guys that played beyond college if only as a practice guy or in lesser pro leagues like the euro or XFL
The record of 3 & 4 star guys coming out of east Mississippi CC goes back several years. It is a place that the Mississippi schools, UT and Alabama have used to get talent, glad we have a guy to get us an in with the big boys. And if you think he can’t coach he has a 4 star DE and a 4 star DT at the school right now, my guess is that he help a lot with their development.
Good hire only thing that kinda scares me is when Joker replaced Brooks coaches everyone he brought in was supposed to be good recruiters. Only problem was they couldn’t coach them when they got them on campus and really never did see any big recruits. Hell we got rid of Higgins who I thought had the best lines I’ve seen at UK and brought in summers who I thought was a major disappointment. Just one mans opinion though but I do have 3 injured QB’s to back it up.
Native of Florida. All-American/SEC Nose Tackle at Auburn. On Strength and Conditioning staff for National Championship team. Has coached multiple draft picks. Currently Coaching at one of the premier JUCOs in the country.
Pick all you want but sounds like a solid hire to me.
Stoops should hire Sean Peyton as Attitude Adjuster, Bear Bryant as Conditioning Coach, Mike Ditka as DC, Walter Payton as RB coach, Peyton Manning as OC, Brett Farve as QB coach, Lawrence Taylor as LB coach and Lane Kiffen as Recruiting Coordinator. Now thats a staff we can believe in.
theres a big de player at east Mississippi cc thay stoops was high on at fl st now getting a coach from there can only help
Great hire. Hopefully this can lead to some talent coming in from this JUCO national power.
