You know you are playing well when Andy Katz, who last had something good to say about Kentucky in 1986, gives the Cats props as the team that may sweep all SEC awards. Katz recognizes that Meeks is the favorite for Player of the Year (and certainly in Joe Dean Jr.’s 6 players who are the Top 5 in the conference) and that Gillispie is well on his way to his second straight Coach of the Year award. And you can see why Katz would say this. For Kentucky to win yesterday….when they had 23 turnovers….struggled offensively….had their best player in foul trouble throughout….and had a teammate collapse at halftime…..to win that game, on the road, against an opponent and coach who DESPERATELY needed the win. Well thats a hell of a win and the Cats deserve some major props.
