Cats get two more football commitments

tyrone-pearson

Just a few hours after Jadarius West phoned in his commitment, two local players pledged their services to the Cats throught Twitter.  Defensive tackle Tyrone Pearson, who was previously committed to the Filthy Cards, just announced that he’s switching his allegiance to the Cats and bringing defensive end Daniel Ross with him.  Pearson says it’s final and he’s ready to roll with the Cats.

Pearson, a three-star defensive also held offers from schools like Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.  Ross, also a three-star prospect, was also being recruited by Louisville, Cincinnati, LSU, Nebraska, UCF and UCLA.  A nice little Tuesday morning for the Cats.

Isn’t this the Daniel Ross from Jeffersontown who is a 3-star Defensive End (scout) listed as 6-5, 240? I don’t think he’s an unranked safety, is he?

There is a nice little twitter fight going on between Pearson and DaMarcus Smith right now. Are all kids out of Seneca crazy?

    Louisville wasn’t recruiting him. Congrats.

    6) I like how Louisville fans complain that UK fans say they weren’t recruiting him when UL signs a recruit. UK signs a UL recruit and now the UL fans do the same thing. Love it when the pot calls the kettle.

Sorry, I am reluctant to place much emotion in the Football Cats. Nonetheless, based on the schools persuing these two, seems like a pretty good get.

Please beat Tennessee! Beat their ace!

Lots of Louisville LOL’s in here.

You were picked to finish 2nd to last in the worst conference in major college football history. The two teams picked to finish 1 & 2 in your league just fired their coaches. I can’t type anymore….laughing too hard.

Once he left Seneca UL stopped recruiting him. A number of UL insiders have confirmed this….He doesn’t even have a current offer from UL…He’s been committed to 3 different schools on 4 separate occasions in the last 4 months…He’s a great pick up from a talent perspective, but he seems like nuisance in the locker room and nearly everyone who knows anything about him knows he wont be playing for ANY D1 school next fall because of grades.

17- there is an article here somewhere from yesterday. He “reportedly” called Joker/Tee to commit, but Joker/Tee were not available to take the call.

If UL wasnt recruiting him anymore, then why was he committed? UL fans just being sore about losing hometown guys. I guess you stopped recruiting them like you stopped recruiting Marquis Teague huh? Very laughable!

    20- “previously committed.”

He committed to UL and de-committed from UL twice in the past year along with flirting with commitments to other schools. It was being put out last week that UL had cut ties with this kid b/c he’d spurned them twice and they were ready to move on. This kid has “academically ineligible” written allover him to boot, which is just another reason to believe the UL fans are actually telling the truth here.

As for UK, we don’t have much choice in avoiding a potentially bad situation here… we need any d-linemen we can get. That said, I’ll get excited if/when this kid ever hits the field in a UK uni.

@23 exactly…actually UL cut ties with him months ago. He’s been committed to UL twice, to UCF once, and he’s transferred high schools 3 times this year and is still not cleared to practice at Senaca…Like its been said, if he gets his head on straight and can get qualified – its a big get..but he’s been off UL’s radar for months.

I’m not sure were you all are getting that he was committed to UL…he hasn’t been “committed” to UL since probably February or March.

A longshot either play d1 fball next year….Unless they drastically improve their grades….i dont even think they took Pearsons committment but coaches told him they’d keep aN EYE on his work in the classroom this year…..

  28. SagaciousMind
    12:37 pm August 2, 2011 Permalink

According to sites, he still has an offer. But even if you did cut ties to him, your loss cuz he has some great D1 schools after him. And so what if he’s not academically eligible? He probably redshirts as a freshmen anyway. So if he needs to go to prep school instead, get stronger, faster, then recommit to the Cats, so be it!

  29. SagaciousMind

BTW, committing and decommitting more than once says he wasnt really all that sure about Lville. So it sounds like he cut ties with them before they cut ties with him.

28- I’m just telling you the facts, man. I agree with you b/c we need a player of this caliber, especially at this position. I’m not trying to rain on the parade, I’m just saying, there’s a reason he has such an offer sheet yet was looking to actually play at lower-tier schools. That’s b/c the schools in contention for his services are all in tight positions to fill needs and almost have to take the risks that come with a kid like this to fill those needs. If a big name school on his list finds themselves short a DT in theis class, you can bet the house they’ll come calling b/c the risk is worth the reward at that point. If not, he’s somebody else’s problem.

    Cough, David Washington, cough.

29- what does changing high schools 3 times in 4 years say? To me it says more about him than it says about UL.

Look, I hate the cards as much as th next guy, but your argument is weak here. We’re all happy to have this kid and it’s great that UL DOESN’T have the chance to get him qualified and straightened out… but that’s it. The recent history of UK’s luck with questionable D-linemen makes this kid fool’s gold at face value… right up until he gets qualified and suits up to play… whenever that happens.

I surprised UK offered Daniel Ross with his checkered past. By the way, just because someone is intertested in a player, it doesn’t mean they have been offered. UofL did not offer either one of these guys. I doubt either one will make it to campus. Bender is been known to associated with Pearson. Just ask his family!

I dont know much about the kid, I dont know anything about him switching high schools, committing, de-committing, whatever. All I know is a lot of high tier schools offered him. I do know football doesnt work like basketball. It’s ok if he’s not eligible, lots of kids arent. It just gives them more time to actually play football in prep school or JUCO then resign with UK compared to redshirting or grayshirting and never gaining game time experience. Donte Rumph, Mychel Bailey and other guys have been in the same situation and it works out. Glad to have him aboard!

Kid sounds like he has not a loyal bone in his Mastadonic body. Say he does go to a JUCO or prep school, improves grades, becomes eligible; why would he not sign with a better offer than KENTUCKY (like BAMA, ND, OK, even Stanford or Vandy)?

No loss there. Kentucky is gonna NEED those recruits more than the CARDS will down the road. Let go of a three star, opens the door for a four.
