Cats get an in-state football commitment

Kentucky got a football commitment for the 2012 class this weekend as JD Harmon of Paducah Tilghman committed to the Cats, according to Aaron Cordero of Bleed Blue Kentucky. BBK says that Harmon will pay his own way initially before going on scholarship, presumably so he can enroll early in June. Harmon is a 2-star prospect who played both ways in high school, and is listed as an athlete by recruiting services. He is not a heralded prospect, but apparently runs a 4.5 in the 40 so there is that. He’s also from Paducah, and if there’s one thing we know about Paducah it’s that they produce the highest quality people in the state, including but not limited to yours truly.

There were several recruits visiting UK over the weekend and if Max Smith’s thoughts are any indication, they should all commit. There will no doubt be some more news trickling in this week as Joker and the staff close out the 2012 class so stay tuned. What’s that? This is a football post so you already tuned out? I guess I knew that already.

Hunter, the last sentences of you post only perpetuates stereotypes and is untrue. I’m more of a fball fan than bball. I wish there was more coverage of football and considering signing day is coming up I would think there would more news. Considering this site has truly become a leading source for UK news ksr could actually help influence opinions and change mindsets. Use your power for good.

Did the announcer during the 49ers Giants game just call Vernon Davis Anthony Davis? Was I the only one to catch that?

The 9ers have an anthony davis. That is who was in a scuffle with Boley before Vernon davis got the flag.

    4.5 40 isn’t SEC speed for a receiver or defensive back. Try 4.3 – 4.4.

Linebackers run a 4.5 these days.

UK foorball is a joke(r). Getting a commitment from a kid no one else in the SEC wanted is news? That’s pitiful, but then so is the state of UK football.

I will have this kid playing outside linebacker before he plays anything else. Don’t worry, I know this staff says this every year but our D is going to way more aggressive with our blitz packages!

You really think every SEC receiver runs a 4.3? Get outta here. Most of the RBs are sub 4.5. Besides, most times aren’t correct.

The % of SEC players on NFL rosters is staggering. Very few are from uk. Uk can’t compete in the SEC.

At NFL combine each year there are very few players that run faster than a 4.5 forty. Why does every post on KSR about football always have a smartass comment at the end?

Paducah kid, FTW. There’s a long list of Paducah Tilghman kids doing well at football. George Wilson is in the NFL, plus there’s Duncan’s favorite: Billy Jack Haskins!!!

#11 O RLY? That’s pretty incredible, considering there were only 11 receivers at the NFL combine last season who ran better than a 4.5. Last year, just 10.

40 times in high school are plucked out of thin air. Even ones at camps are notoriously bad.

Harmon is a great pickup to not eat up a scholarship immediately.

JD is 6.2 – 195. He’s as fast as he needs to be. Where he shines is jumping ability: Gazelle like. He will play defense.
