Cats drop four spots in latest polls

After splitting games with Tennessee and Vanderbilt last week, Kentucky dropped four spots in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today polls to end up at #22.  They’re the nation’s highest ranked seven-loss team (high fives anyone?), but the third-highest in the SEC (Florida and Vandy both better).  This, of course, is bad news for Mississippi State and South Carolina, who now have the daunting task of playing a program that is 9-1 when playing games when ranked 22nd. See, there’s always a silver lining.

And since we haven’t mentioned Mumford and Sons in the last hour, here’s the performance last night, bootlegged and posted on YouTube just as they would have wanted.

Shouldn’t be ranked at all…….We are not a top 25 team.

We are the only top 25 team with 7 losses, we shouldn’t be there at all. I hope we get this stuff worked out.

I’m a die hard CAT fan, I don’t see how a team that can’t win a road game is in the top 25!

We are a top 25 team when at Rupp. Those other games, except the UL and ND ones, don’t count.

How scary is it that we only got one more vote in the coaches poll then Saint Mary’s?

I would agree, this team is not even close to being a top-25 caliber ball club. Could easily be one and done in the tournament, if we make it !

like mumford and sons, love avett brothers. total respect for bob dylan. also, Rage Against the Machine’s cover of Maggie’s Farm (the dylan song in the video) is out of this world.

when we play at rupp we are a top ten team. With some of the close unforgiveable losses we would be a top 15 team still. I believe in this team and know that when push comes to shove and the opposing team isnt hitting 60% of their 3 pointers we will win out.

If we cant win on the road that is fine bc the NCAA tourny will be 60% UK fans every game (which will be better than a nuetral court BTW we blew Notre Dame out on a nuetral court and they are an experienced team) The SEC tourny is the same way. So as long as we beat Ark and UT on the road and win out the rest of our home games that will be plenty of upside to give this team.

Vandy wasnt a bad loss considering they shot better than 50% from 3’s and hit all but 4 free throws and attempted 24 of those. 11-3’s and 20 freethrows equals 53 points. Your telling me that this team shoots like this every game. Yeah if they did they would be undefeated.

We shot poorly around 30% from 3’s.

Point is Vandy was on fire at home and we were the visiting team who couldnt shoot the 3 ball(exception knight). we lost by 4 points when all is said and done.

I think with those stats just given and the fact that we were in the ball game the whole time and never had that give up moment that we have shown in past road games says we are learning something. It is not going to happen over night, but even withthis loss I say we made a stride.

Surprised we’re still ranked at all. I love Knight, Lamb, and Jones, but the only people who should want to draft them is the army. They all need to stay.

those guys are awful. Mumford and Sons I’m talking about. I can’t believe the quality of music has declined so far that someone would consider them good.

yeah….it’s pathetic that there is actually a group out there that writes their own music, plays their own instruments, and doesn’t follow the path laid by mainstream radio. gotta love some lady gaga. child please!!

We have one bad loss this year(Ole Miss). Alabama and Georgia are not good ones, the other four are to ranked teams on the road. We are ranked where we should. College basketball is down this year for sure. Notre Dame and Louisville are near the top of the mighty Big East, that says it all. UK has a team that can reach the Elite 8 or be out the first weekend. IMO, Texas and Kansas are scary teams that I want no part of and that is it. Reality is we may have 10 losses this year and be a 6th seed. Here is to going 5-1 the rest of the way. That would put us at 22-8, which is what most of us would probably put us at the beginning of the year without Enes. Correct?

Why are so many Kentucky fans overly criticizing our beloved Wildcats? I mean to say we do not belong in the top 25 is ridiculous. We are one of the few teams that plays very tough out of the conference schedule. And we beat some very good team on the neutral site against ranked Washington and Notre Dame. We also took UNC to the wire in Chapel Hill and beat Louisville in Yum Center. I would love for you guys to find a team in the lower end of the top 25 that has a better resume than Kentucky. At least try to be happy for a team that uses 6 man rotation with very thin front court presence. Wildcats may drop out of the rankings for good if they do not take care of business at home and at Arkansas.

Mumford and sons: could they be any more boring?

  32. Just saying

WHAT are u people saying?? We dont deserve to be ranked?? We just lost 2 games AT #14 Florida by 2, and AT #28 Vandy by 4.

Id say #22 is just about right for this team. We beat #8 Notre Dame on neutral court, At #16 Louisville by 15, Washington on neutral court. We only have two “bad” losses (at Ole Miss and at Alabama).

This team is literally 2-3 offensive turnovers, a 25 ft 3-pt at the buzzer shot at Ole Miss, and a rim rattling 3-pt miss by Knight at Florida from being a top 10 team and leading the SEC. We really are that close, and getting this freshman laiden team on a neutral court (UK biased fanbase) will make strides in their game. We are losing VERY close games on the road in atmospheres similar to the Final Four. Lets give these “boys” a chance

If Chris Warren missed his game winner, and Brandon Knight hit his, we would be 19-5 (7-3 SEC).

The sky isnt falling yet guys. Were not a great team, but were not that bad either
