Cats a #3 in latest Bracketology

bracketology-1-18

In this week’s edition of his Bracketology, which was a day late, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi projects the Cats to play their post-season games a three-seed.  Lunardi has the Cats facing off with Bucknell in the first round with potential matchups with the team I cursed in the Fan Outfitters Fan Challenge, Temple.  The Cats, who Lunardi had previously picked to wind up as one of his top seeds by the end of the season, share the region with previous opponents North Carolina, UConn and Washington, as well as Derrick Jasper and Darnell Dodson.  More importantly, if things shake out this way, you’ll finally get that mulligan for the 2009 SEC Tournament and have a chance to return to sunny Tampa.

Here is where other UK opponents landed:

4 – Notre Dame
5 – Florida
6 – Louisville
6 – Vanderbilt
10 – Tennessee
10 – Georgia

Unc shouldn’t even be in it, but since they are, why are they not in the Greensboro pod?

We had Zero fast break points against Georgia off of defensive rebounds and Georgia is known for getting back slow on D. I hope tonight is better against Bama. We run out pretty well off of turnovers. But just don’t give the effort off of def rebounds.

Where did Dodson go? I knew he was dismissed from the team but wasn’t aware he transferred somewhere…

As for the seeding, Lunardi projects where UK goes if the field started today, not where he thinks we will be by the end of the season.

NO way in hell, Louisville gets a 6. By the time it’s all said and done, they are a 10 or below.

I would absolutely love this bracket! Automatic Sweet 16 and a rematch against poor-shooting UConn. Even the top half of the bracket is weak. Washington or Wisconsin might be the best team in that part. I still believe Kansas is overrated, even though they made Baylor look pretty bad last night. Crazier things have happened. I see a potential Final Four if everything goes right. No way the NCAA selection committee gives us this kind of draw, though.

Yeah, how’d UK drop a seed after murdering two SEC opponents last week? Don’t care that it was LSU and Auburn, the Cats did what they were supposed to do.

UConn would probably beat us once again. That said, its worthless to even debate anything related to seeds at this stage. We could be a 1, 2, or 3 depending on how it all shakes out. Our RPI is very good, but the SEC will bring us down. Also, any loss in-conference will cost us dearly.

Who is Greensboro and Charlotte sleeping with to get the tournament in their city every other year? And god forbid Duke be made to leave their state the first weekend. I see that Jurich was able to keep the NCAA tournament out of the Yum Center.

    13) We probably dropped because killing two pathetic opponents at home hurts our Lunar(ardi)RPI, not helps it. And since he bases Bracketology off current standings, not how the season will end, we dropped from 2 to 3. At least that’s typically what happens in these situations.

look for the NCAA to have dook play Handicap University 1 mile outside durham.

    14) I disagree. I think we could make the necessary changes to guard them and I think our offense is greatly improved. A rematch usually benefits the previous loser… just ask the Jets.

11 Big East teams seems a bit excessive. Not saying it won’t happen. Just seems weird.

UL will be lower than a 6 seed, and there’s really no doubt about it.

Really we should hope for a #2 seed after winning SEC Champ. I see this team going Final Four no problem if they execute.
    GO CATS.

Whoever thought of releasing brackets/bracketology in January needs to be smacked. This is going to change with each and every week so it is even worth considering.

Geez folks, I enjoy taking it game by game instead of clouding my head with this kind of torture. None of it matters anyway. Win games and make the tourney.

these are obviously stupid because it has Tennessee in the tourney. they will be lucky to finish ove .500 in conference play
