Caption This! Jurich vs. Jones

Tom Jurich thinks Louisville is a Top 10 football program.  He’s willing to debate that with anyone.  Today, he said, “Someone debate that with me, please. Because I’ll debate that ’til I drop dead.”

Well, Mr. Jurich, you’re in luck.  We have just the guy.

The request is in and a Louisville spokesman says he will give an answer by Monday. Your move, Jurich. Debate Matt. If you win, you get KSR. If Matt wins, you have to give him your most prized possession, the Courier-Journal.

Everyone in?

Let’s do this.

This may be a UK site, but UofL is our biggest rival. Today there has been more news related to UofL than there has been to UK, and when Tom Jurich says something as asinine as Louisville is a top 10 football program, it deserves to be talked about. I mean seriously…The dumbest thing he has ever said.

Jurich is totally getting played by the ACC; when all the good ACC schools leave & Jurich is left to figure out he got played, I hope he has that stupid look on his face when he heard Syracuse & Pitt left the Big East or when John L was going to Mich State during halftime of their bowl game.

The more KSR obsesses over UL, the more credibility we give them. I grew up with rivals like UT, VU, the rest of the SEC, IU and UNC in bball. I always pulled for UL like I would WKU or Morehead St. If UL thinks that, let them think that. Jurich seems to be doing a good job over there. Instead of trying to tear them down, let’s just worry about improving our program.

Obviously in terms of PAY, but beyond what makes it a top 10 job, the pay versus the competition? I guess that’s true, play B+ ball in a C League but get A- money…OK you’re right it is one of the top 10 jobs in the US. But the pay/perq’s don’t make it a Top 10 Program, just a Top 10 job, for coaches…but hey if you like creating a well-paid part-time job, it’s your ticket prices, so knock yourself out.

I don’t think your nit-pick helped as much as you might have hoped.

    Teams better than UofL:
Big Ten (4): OSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Michigan St
SEC (5): Bama, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Texas A&M
    PAC:(3) Oregon, Stanford, USC
Big 12 (4): Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., Kansas St
    Notre Dame

None of these are even debatable. That’s 17 right there without trying. The question is whether UofL is a top 20 team THIS year. Hard to tell with their schedule.

Thats what Tom said top 10 JOBS, in his eyes. U of L athletics is Tom’s baby just as a parents child you think your kid is the best. And being a top 10 job in Tom’s meaning is not the football program as a whole compared to the elite one’s . The city of louisville as a whole, the state of the university the way Jurich treats his coaches compared to other programs yes louisville is a top job want say top 10 but in Jurichs eyes he feels he has alot to offer an employee. Quality of life all that plays into a job. Sometimes look at things neutral.

Look they don’t have the pressure being an urban school. They obviously overpay everyone. Hell, I would rather coach somewhere where mediocre performance gets rewarded then go 9-3 at UT and get fired. Moving to the ACC makes them much more relevant. There is no way he thinks that for football prestige they are. Surely he is not that dumb. I am giving him benefit of doubt here

Would you believe it my comment gets deleted despite no vulgar comments in less than five minutes? I ask again, in a less intelligent way so that my comment can stay on the board, can someone show me how Louisville has NOT leaped Kentucky as the dominant college team in both football and basketball. How come Kentucky’s facilities remain so outdated and in basketball Louisville’s second team was starting for UK fans on this board would rave about how awesome they are, and if Pitino had your same freshman who are starting for your team you would trash them?
