Calipari with more Enes revelations

Some very interesting notes from this video:

1.  The amount of money Enes received was not the issue, just that he received it.  Cal said that anything over $500 was a violation.  This, of course, is because it comes from a professional team instead of a professional agent or a professional marketing guy. Which means…

2.  According to Calipari, the ruling in light of Enes never signing a formal agreement means that the NCAA has set a precedent that a contract does not need to exist for a player to be considered a professional.  Seems to make sense.  What will be interesting is if the Issues Committee chaired by Mitch Barnhart targets this as any issue needing reform or tweaking at any point.  Of course, in Barnhart’s statement Friday, he said UK was told that the Newton and Ohio State rulings were “not binding”, so maybe this one isn’t either. It’s just a moment in time.

3.  Calipari says directly of NCAA President Mark Emmert, “It’s amazing, all your comments.  You made your decision.  Why keep commenting?”  It’s only a matter of time before the Mean and Nimble One enters this equation.

4.  Calipari again reiterated what he said today on the SEC Coaches Teleconference – Enes Kanter did not desire to go to the NBA this year.  It seemed surprising this morning, but Calipari didn’t seem like he was playing around.  In fact, I almost went straight to the treadmill after I watched this out of fear alone.

5.  Calipari said that he was not involved in any of these appeals or hearings.  Cal said he was completely on the outside.

They are sorry pieces of sh*& and they get no respect from me. And Calipari, Barnhart, and Todd should just come out and say anything they want about these assholes…what are they gonna do suspend them, who cares, lets all get it out there and UK has a right to say exactly what they think and how they feel. this is my eamil to the prsident of the ncaa.
i am emailing you to voice my displeasure in the enes kanter ruling the joke, called the ncaa, passed down late last week. it was the ruling i expected because the joke, called the ncaa, had no money to be made instantly from allowing kante…r to play. the joke, called the ncaa, allowed the ohio state 5 to play in the sugar bowl because of money. the joke, called the ncaa allowed cam newton to play becusae of money. the joke, called the ncaa, is so inconsistent with it’s rulings that nothing surprises me with what the joke, called the ncaa does.

you talk about wanting the athletes to be students yet, you turn down a kid who wants to be a student. once again, the joke, called the ncaa, is inconsistent in what you try to preach. yesterday, i saw your comments you made to seth davis showing surprise with the decision the joke, called the ncaa, made as being a clear cut decision. something so black and white took you 8 months to decide yet, the joke, called the ncaa ruled on cam newton and the ohio state 5 in 24 hours. make your decision, but don’t be a hypocrite. you, also, said few schools attempted to recruit kanter. did you forget his verbal commitment to washington, the university you were president of before you became president of the joke, called the ncaa. wouldn’t feel a little vengeful over this backing out of his verbal to washington would you?

in closing i have tried to teach the joke, called the ncaa a quick lesson on how to be consistent. your rulings aren’t consistent but my calling the joke, called the ncaa, sure are consistent.

ps. how’s that corey maggette investigation coming along? you think a decision might come in the next 20 years?

The NCAA really screwed Enes. There’s no other way to put it. He’s not ready for the NBA and his draft stock will lower every year he spends at UK off the court. The NCAA prevented him from attaining his dream of playing for UK and will cause him to earn less money in the NBA.

42- you “couldn’t” care less. If you could care less, that means you actually do care. The truth is that grammar and spelling say a lot in a written message. If you send a resume’ with a cover letter you spell check those, right?

I agree with you 100% – the NCAA is a joke. The NCAA’s primary goal is to act as a cartel and to fix the prices of resources (student athletes) and to maximize the revenues earned by member institutions. The welfare of student athletes is not the NCAA’s primary concern.

Apparently the issue was that the payment came from a professional sports team. Basically the NCAA is just inventing reasons based on differences between the Newton/OSU/Selby cases and Kanter. So basically the UK made a series of points and the NCAA justified itself by essentially making the Kanter situation isolated. It’s like looking at a cream-filled donut and saying it isn’t a donut because it doesn’t have a hole, see? Delicious. This conversation probably went like a lot of conversations when you catch a drunk in a lie.

Tip Toe? seriously you want us to TIP TOE? Here’s the thing #3, if you’re reverent in what your saying and not going off the path or saying untrue or statements then I feel it would be a time to tip toe. Already emmert has made many statements to where this ruling was truely black and white. All Cal was telling him and the NCAA they took 8 months to come up with black and white.
I think you could tell in both his actions and his mannerisms in the video that he is still feeling down about the whole thing. I just wondering what is going to happen if something like this ever rears it’s ugly head again, because IN his video Cal more or less it’s gong to be a he said/she said thing. Who are going to believe? In this case the NCAA believed the GM from Turkey/Thamel/interpretor……Case closed.
42 GREAT JOB MY FRIEND!…Just a little FTI if any of you do decide to write the NCAA keep it short, non abusive, but most of all use some respect, not that they deserve any, it’s just that they’ll delete it faster than little Ricky at a table with Sypher at Porcinis.

Silent Protest: I wish KY players would approach Cal and tell him they want to wear a black zero somewhere on their uniforms to show solidarity with Kanter. No need to talk about it; in fact, make it a rule not to discuss the situation publicly…just wear the symbol to show silent unity with a teammate. It would ensure that the topic would be raised by broadcasters every time KY took the court, and keep the topic alive much to the NCAA’s chagrin. I’m interested if others think this would be a worthwhile gesture.

It’s not personal. Typos and errors in a blog are overlooked by most other posters. Some it affects however like scratches on a chalkboard and compels them to say something. I think the point some are trying to make is that Kentuckians are already prejudged as ignorant. Therefore sending an apparently unedited letter such as yours to educated people simply re-enforces prejudices that many would rather see fazed out.
