John Calipari never stops. Today, he sat down with WKYT’s Rob Bromley to talk about a number of topics, including his former players returning to campus to help with the Pro Camps and the upcoming Alumni Game. Calipari said that at the rate UK is putting players in the league, in two years, former UK players could account for 10% of the NBA, which makes fielding an annual alumni game pretty easy. — What did Cal make of Jeff Sheppard’s comments about the one-and-done culture at UK and how he feels closer to Rick Pitino? “It’s not on my radar right now. …I’m disappointed he feels that way, but it’s understandable. He didn’t play for me.”
— Cal says he called four coaches on Kyle Wiltjer’s behalf and made it clear to Kyle that he was welcome to come back to UK, “but in the end, you’ve gotta roll with it.”
— This year was the last year UK will hold the satellite camps across the state. “I’ve been in enough cities and counties in the state to run for Governor,” Cal joked. Instead, he plans to expand the pro camp circuit, taking them on the road to Northern Kentucky and Louisville.
