Calipari is in Vegas

Cal must’ve really enjoyed his team’s big win over Tennessee last night, because he snuck off to Vegas for an evening in Sin City tonight. Cal is in Nevada’s brightest city to watch Shabazz Muhammad at Findlay Prep.

Bring him home.

If he wants to play for the best school, with the best fans, the best coach, and his best chance for the best future: He’ll commit to Kentucky!

It’s easy to see why ten years would be enough for a coach that lives this fast pace!!

If Shabazz doesn’t get the fact that UK is the best of his choices then God help him. Unless the kid is just drying for love & attention, he might as well just end this circus now and pick UK. Really UNLV & UCLA are even being discussed in same breath as UK Really. If he goes somewhere else, he might be the man & the best player, he’s still the best player on a horrible team.

Actually, Bishop Gorman is playing Western, not Findlay Prep. I live in Vegas and I have bets with all my co-workers as to where Shabazz ends up. The locals think UNLV has the inside track, but I think he’ll be a cat.

I don’t give a bucket of recycled oats what the media “experts” say.
This man, Coach John Calipari, is the National Coach of the Year if the season ended today.
Who else recruits athletes this elite, motivates them to excel on both ends of the court, insists they exude class and character on and off the court, gets them to listen to him and love their brothers like he does?
Oh, did I mention that he coaches them during games as well or better than anyone else as well?

The most annoying thing about the Coach of the Year talks is that too many people dismiss recruiting.

Such and such close has a poor team but they’re doing better than expected. What a great coach!

When did recruiting stop being part of a coach’s job? If Cal marches out the best recruiting class every year, and we win a ton of games, that makes him a good coach for recruiting them even if he did nothing to coach them (as many analysts like to assert). Right now, front runner for CotY should be Cal because he recruited the best recruits to replace the guys he lost last year, he’s coached through an injury to his best returning player for several games, and we’ve lost exactly one game by 1 point to a then undefeated team at their building.

Best team, best frosh (take your pick, AD or MKG), best defender (AD or MKG or even TJ), and probably best record at the end of the year. That means best coach to me.
