The Indianapolis Star is reporting that 2011 point guard Marquis Teague has recently drawn the interest of Coach Calipari. The sophomore point guard (and brother of Wake Forest star Jeff Teague) is ranked by Rivals as the #8 player in the class and is considering Cincinnati, Indiana, Louisville, Ohio State, Purdue and Wake Forest, according to the site. The interest in Teague could be nothing more than just a gentle gauge of interest on behalf of the UK staff, but their willingness to at least reach out to another young point guard shows the importance Calipari and Co. place on the position. We could be on our way to becoming “Point Guard U”, which means Steve Kerr will have to re-do his lines on NBA Live.
However, back in March, it was pretty widely reported that Teague was leaning toward a commitment to the Filthy Cards and despite being in the class of 2011, Teague’s recruitment could be wrapping up soon as he expects to commit in June. Can Calipari make a case for UK in a short amount of time? We’ll see.
