At his book signing event in Lexington last night, Coach Calipari gave a little bit of insight into when we may get a decision on the eligibility of Enes Kanter, and he seems to think it will be sooner rather than later.
Calipari confirmed Tuesday that Eloy Vargas has joined the team on campus and gave an update on the status of freshman Enes Kanter.
“Still going through the process,” Calipari said of Kanter, who has been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse but did not travel with the team to Canada. “The process with the foreign student will take a little longer, but I think in the next couple of weeks we’ll know,” he said.
That was the most pertinent piece of news from Coach, although he did mention his pleasure with the way the 2011 class is shaping up, in the required cryptic coach code. He also spoke briefly about how we’re seeing the effects of the greatest night in program history play out now, and will see more of its dividends paid down the road.
Coach seems to think, and hopefully he’s right, that we’ll know fairly quickly what Kanter’s situation is. One thing we know right now, though, is that this is the greatest post in the history of KSR.
