Bye Winning: Cats beat Vols, 64-58
With a chance to capture a first round bye in the SEC Tournament within their grasp, Kentucky came out flat at Thompson-Boling Arena Sunday afternoon, failing to score a basket in the game’s first five minutes and entering halftim with a seven-point deficit. But the Cats used a 20-4 run (18-4 to start the half) to take the lead behind 11 points from a revived Brandon Knight. In exorcising their road demons and earning the bye, Kentucky also found a way to close out another opponent in a close game, going on a 13-6 run in the final 5:24 after the Vols took a one-point lead. Ladies and gentlemen, the momentum has returned.
Kentucky will now face the winner of South Carolina and Ole Miss Friday.

Extremely NICE having a good refereed game on the road. I think the NCAA made sure UK was treated fairly against Pearl. Those were NOT SEC refs.

15, the refereeing was not good. They let ’em play in the first half, but then everything was a foul in the second half. I think whatever bad calls there were evened out for both teams in the end, but the inconsistency was awful.

Harrelson never looks glamorous but all the little things he does are amazing. His hustle in the last five minutes was the difference in my opinion. Kept a lot of rebounds alive.

Between Hopson and Miller, we got the best KY had to offer that year in Miller, the Mr. Basketball that year. Hopson’s line coming out of high school was that his motor didn’t run all the time, and he has consistently shown that.

Most polarizing player in recent memory, hate him one minute, love him the next. He’s the best roller coaster ride I’ve ever been on! Jorts stat line won’t show it, but he was absolutely HUGE at the end getting several rebounds that determined the outcome.

90) Yes, he had his lapses, several of them. But at the end he did some little things that helped us pull this win out. He had several passes that he tossed out of bounds that hurt. Like I said, his stat line won’t show it but he really helped at the end, extending some possessions. It’s the little things.

I know two Cats fouled out but did not have a problem with the officiating today. I thought the fouls were called pretty even. I thought in few occasions Jones got hammered like 3 times before foul was called but overall I thought it was better officiated game.
Kentucky’s possible foes to SEC Tournament Championship game: Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Auburn, or Mississippi. Florida’s possible foes to SEC Tournament Championship game: Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, or LSU. I think the advantage here has to goto Cats!!!

A big shout out to the following Cats, to Liggins and Vargas for keeping us in it the first half, to Kinght and Miller for their second half scoring, to Harrellson for his rebounding, and to Jones for several reasons, but especially for his hussle play near the end of the game going on the floor and passing the ball to Knight. A special honorable mention to Hood, who came off the bench after Lamb fouled out and dodn’t hurt us. He played at a critical time and we pulled out the win. I think Hood deserves a bit of credit.

In addition to bonuses for making the NCAA Tournament, Elite 8, Final Four and National Championship, he also gets $100,000 for each lie he makes to the NCAA.
I dont understand why UT isnt already a bubble team. Sure they beat Villanova but theyve showed to not be all that tough, and UT has a horrible overall record 18-13, mediocre 8-8 in the SEC, and an even worse at home record in the SEC of 3-4.
Other than beating Pitt, what else has UT done to get into the NCAA? There are 40 at large bids, and UTs RPI is 35, they are already on the bubble, a loss to Arkansas should put them in “first 4 out” category
UT is 7-3 againt RPI teams 100 and worse, and against top 100 RPI teams they are 11-9, and 1-4 against top 25. If thats not a bubble team, I dont know one. Everyone talks about UT beating Pitt and Nova, but they forget to mention they followed that with losses to Charlotte, College of Charleston, and Oakland.

I just read that Terrence Jones is a 3rd team All-American and Brandon Knight is a Honorable Mention selection. BK has to be the most underrated superstar in college bball. He is better than Jacob Pullen (who is the 3rd team point guard)and IMO he is neck and neck with Kemba Walker (whose game has falling off after the hot start and his team has suffered due to him “gunning”). What do these so called experts look for? BK should be the SEC Player of the year, he has my vote!! Keep leading us Brandon, see yall in Houston!
