Bud Dupree named 2nd Team Sophomore All-American

Another football Cat earned All-American honors today–Bud Dupree. Dupree was named to the second-team Sophomore All-American by CollegeFootballNews.com.

The news comes as no surprise, as Dupree had an absolute monster season, finishing second on the team in tackles with 91. He led the team in quarterback sacks (6.5) and tackles for loss (12.5). He started all 12 games this season and had a sack, tackle for loss, fumble caused, fumble recovered or pass breakup in 13 of the last 16 games he has played.

He’s pretty excited about next season, too:

The scary thing about Dupree is that now he has some coaches. We will see how he develops…but while his numbers were pretty decent, he played soft and tentative for much of the season. That is not knocking him (it is knocking the coaches), but with good coaching, this kid could blow up. If he develops a nasty attitude, he could be real.

I have heard stoops talk about BUD and he has said he is going to utilize him in the same capacity that UGA used Jarvis Jones.

I can’t wait to see how that works out. But will be a monster!

    6. They have similar size and physical tools. If Bud brings the intensity (which I believe won’t be a problem) and is put in those same situations, we could see huge numbers from him.
