BTI’s Rants and Ramblings: Probation, Probation, Probation

ALL NATIONAL TITLE COACHES: ALL BEEN CHARGED WITH MAJOR NCAA INFRACTIONS

I have reached my limit of hearing about what a cheating low life Coach Calipari is.  I really have.  First and foremost, Coach Cal has had ZERO violations at the University of Kentucky.  And I care about one team and one team only: The University of Kentucky.  As long as he keeps UK out of trouble, then I truly don’t care about Memphis and UMASS.  But every time people of other fanbases tell you how much of a cheater Coach Cal is and how he fits perfect at the biggest cheater in college basketball, I would like you to use these facts for your defense:

SCHOOLS WHOSE MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM IS CURRENTLY ON PROBATION
Baylor
Florida International
Florida State
Indiana
Alabama
Memphis
Georgia Southern
Northeastern
Richmond
Long Beach State

These next set of stats come from the NCAA official website on infraction (teams in bold are repeat infraction offenders):

So, if all of those names and numbers above are too confusing, let me break it down for you.  Since Kentucky was charged with MAJOR violations in 1989:

-84 different Division-1 schools have been charged with MAJOR violations by the NCAA

-15 schools have been charged 2 OR MORE TIMES for MAJOR violations, including…..wait for it…..LOUISVILLE

-6 of the 11 other SEC schools have been charged

-Kansas, Indiana, Louisville, UCLA, Syracuse, Maryland, Villanova, and Memphis have all committed MAJOR violations.  UCONN obviously has some charges coming.

-Coaches who have overseen programs when violations were committed, just to name a few:
Denny Crum (2 NATIONAL TITLES)
Jim Boeheim (1 NATIONAL TITLE)
Bill Self (1 NATIONAL TITLE)
Bob Huggins (2 FINAL FOURS)
Nolan Richardson (1 NATIONAL TITLE)
Jerry Tarkanian (1 NATIONAL TITLE)
Dale Brown (1 FINAL FOUR)
Jim Calhoun (2 NATIONAL TITLES)

Combined: 8 National Titles, 19 Final Fours (ALL BY NCAA-SANCTIONED CHEATERS)

So, next time a UL fan or radio host goes on a rant about Coach Cal, tell them to say the same thing about Denny Crum who two instances of major violations in his program.  And they named the floor at Freedom Hall after him.
