First of all, congrats to KIGE RAMSEY, who was our Week 1 winner to be in the inaugural KSR Hall of Fame class. Kige brought in 1,263 votes, which was 31% of the vote. Kige will now be taken off the list to vote for in Week 2, along with our low vote getter, Chip Cosby. We do add two new nominees this week, Lucas-Patterson and The Door. So, you have 7 days to vote before the poll refreshes again.
For whatever reason, I got the football itch this weekend. Phil Steele’s book is officially out, which is just full of amazing information, and always gets me pumped for the season. And I have a little extra interest in this UK season because it’s Joker Phillips first year, and it will be interesting to see if he can take the program to the next level from where Rich Brooks left it.
So, I got to thinking about what Joker needs to do this season to please the fanbase. With Kentucky football, you just never can predict where the wins will come and where the losses will be. Last year, the team beat Auburn and Georgia on the road, but lost to Mississippi St. at home. So, trying to guess what this team’s record will be is nearly impossible, but my question is: Out of the scenarios that I put after this, WHICH OF THESE WOULD BE SATISFYING FOR YOU?
(In all these scenarios, I am assuming that Kentucky beats Western Kentucky, Akron, and Charleston Southern and loses to Florida)
SCENARIO #1 (6-6, MAKE BOWL)
Wins: Louisville, South Carolina, Vanderbilt
Losses: Ole Miss, Georgia, Auburn, Mississippi St, Tennessee
Essentially in this scenario, the Cats win the games they are supposed to, and lose the games they are supposed to. The Cats would finally get over the hump against South Carolina, but also lose to Mississippi St. again. And once again Tennessee gets the Cats, but UK does beat Louisville.
SCENARIO #2 (6-6, MAKE BOWL)
Wins: Louisville, Auburn, Vanderbilt
Losses: Ole Miss, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi State, Tennessee
The Cats finish off the sweep of Auburn, but lose at home to the more beatable South Carolina AGAIN. In the rivals games, UK beats Louisville but loses to Tennessee.
SCENARIO #3 (7-5, MAKE BOWL)
Wins: South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt
Losses: Louisville, Ole Miss, Auburn, Tennessee
The Cats get to 7 wins, but lose to its biggest two rivals in the process, essentially meaning that the beginning and the end of the regular season ends poorly for Joker.
SCENARIO #4 (5-7, MISS BOWL)
Wins: Louisville, Tennessee
Losses: Ole Miss, Auburn, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt
Let’s say the Cats only get to 5 wins, but two of those wins are Louisville and Tennessee. UK would miss a bowl but would break the streak against the Vols, and do it in Knoxville.
