BTI’s Rants and Ramblings: Beating the Spread, Who Does UK do Best Against?

Some of us like to lay down a couple bucks on college football, but if you’ve been putting money on UK the last few years, you probably have got some debt on your resume now.  Take a look how UK has done in the last 5 years AGAINST THE SPREAD against 2013 opponents.  For those of you uninformed about sports betting, a +7 number means UK was a 7-point underdog, while a -7 would be a 7-point favorite.

Below that is the combination of all these numbers, but let me warn you, it’s not pretty.

THE ANALYSIS

-UK has gone 27-36 the last 5 seasons, but 15-26-1 against the spread against 2013 opponents.

-UK has only been favored in 4 SEC games in the last 5 years, going 2-2 against the spread and 2-2 straight up.

-Taking UGA’s 4-1 record against the spread out, UK is just 7-20-1 against the spread against SEC opponents on the 2013 schedule.  Overall against all SEC opponents, they were 15-24-1 against the spread.

-Kentucky hasn’t gotten within 13 points AGAINST THE SPREAD versus Florida in 5 years.

-On the flip side, UK has beaten the spread by 20 or more points 2 straight years against UGA, and 4 of the last 5 overall.

-The team that UK plays the tightest games against when it comes to spread is Mississippi State, where the result has been within 10 points all 5 years, and within 4 points in 4 of the 5 years.

In conclusion, until they prove you otherwise, betting the Cats has been a risky bet for 5 years.  Which may mean they’ll beat the spread most games this year, as betting seems to even out.  Bet ’em against UGA and avoid ’em against Florida.

Lost by 30 and 40 to Vandy the last two years!! Even as bad as we have been in most years, I never, ever, thought Vandy would beat us like that two years in a row.Joker was a joke as a head coach and if he would have been allowed to come back for another year, we may have had to impemented the mercy rule.

#3. Last year was 2012 and we went 0-8 in SEC play. Remember? Moron. How are you going to post your name as ‘hey dummy’ and get something so wrong?
