-Take a shot at this quiz of the players who have won both NCAA and NBA titles, and you will find many former Kentucky players on there.
-Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player in history. He is better than Kobe. He is better than Lebron. He is also one of the biggest pricks in sports history, and his Hall of Fame proves it. He should have made the famous commercial: I AM NOT A ROLE MODEL.
-Don’t you just feel so bad for Bengals fans? Ever since Boomer Esiason left, the team has just been crappy. And even in their one freaking playoff game in forever, Carson Palmer has his knee shredded early in the game, ending the Bengals hopes. Well, this weekend takes the cake, in my opinion. I am sure you already know what happen, but also take a listen to the Gus Johnson call, which this blog called “him almost having a coronary in the booth”.
-You know that I am not a big fan of Jason Whitlock, as his articles rarely talk about sports themselves, but rather the “big picture” social aspect of sports. I see its purpose, but that doesn’t mean that’s what I am looking for. Anyway, he DID write a very good article about Michael Jordan (see above) and Serena Williams (see below).
-You are seeing a theme in today’s links, and that is spoiled celebrities who don’t understand how to act. But even more than Jordan and Williams this weekend, was the actions of Kanye West. This is now twice (that I know of) where West has acted beyond rudely (Hurricane Katrina aftermath being the other) and hopefully this permanently damages his career. Great quote I heard:
“George Bush may hate black people, but every person hates Kanye West.”
After the embarrassment that is Serena Williams, on the other side of the coin is the greatness that is Roger Federer (yesterday notwithstanding).
