So, we got off to a roaring start in the UK Modern Day Favorite Player tournament yesterday.  We had two epic matchups in Bogans-Meeks and Bradley-Mercer, but amazingly to me, both the worse seeds won.  I was especially surprised at Mercer going down in the 1st round, but Smooth really was a love affair for the fan base. Continue voting today, as we have several more good matchups.

(1) Jamal Mashburn: 171,(32) Gimel Martinez: 4

(24) Ramel Bradley: 89, (9) Ron Mercer: 86

1. UK is asking the state to help pay the labon lawyer’s in the Billy Gillispie suit, at the cool price of $100,000.  Maybe a lawyer like Matt could explain why it is going to cost that much, but this seems ridiculous to me.  I had nothing to do with Gillispie being fired, I had nothing to do with Gillispie being a prick, I had nothing to do with this lawsuit.  Yet, my taxes are going to contribute to this case?  Seems a little unfair.

2. I know we all are getting a little humor out of Rick Pitino’s extortion problems.  But, at the TV station I work at, it is well known that Karen Sypher is just straight up CRAZY.  And now, the Commonwealth’s Attorney had said he will not pursue her criminal complaintas it has a “void of credibility” and “lacks any supporting evidence.”  So, while it will be great to see Sypher posters at all UL games this year, I have a sneaking suspicion that Pitino is getting out this one pretty clean.

3. If you didn’t have a chance to see them yesterday, here are the first two editions of a new feature on KSR, The Video Vault.  I will hunt down just about anything UK related (within reason), just let me know in the comments section what you want to see.  Yesterday, you say the HUGE Azubuike dunk against Vandy in 2003 and UK’s run through the 1996 NCAA Tournament.
