1. Rajon Rondo has officially entered stardom. And those are the words of Phil Jackson, not me. Remember that Kevin Garnett also called Rondo the MVP of the team earlier this season. I don’t know who the greatest professional basketball player in UK history is (Prince, Hagan?) but I think when its all said and done Rondo will be considered. What a stat line last night: 21 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, 6 steals. Just amazing.
2. There are alot of local guys with a shot at the Ryder Cup in Septmeber. Here are the updated Ryder Cup standings for the Americans. Basically, Tiger, Phil, Stewart Cink, and Jim Furyk are LOCKS, meaning even if they drop out of the Top 8 automatic spots, they would still be selected. That leaves 8 spots. Currently, Kenny Perry is 7th with one win this season, and JB Holmes is 14th with one win. Perry has experience, actually played in a Ryder Cup, and has been playing very well of late. I think without a total collapse, he is getting one of the 4 at-large spots, if not an automatic bid. Holmes may be a different story. He play has been a little inconsistent, but he does have a win. It will be interesting to see if Holmes, as a Kentuckian, makes the team if he finished in lets say the Top 15. Something to key an eye out for the next couple months.
3. I know the President is taking alot of crap for his missing a layup earlier this week. But seriously, we are going through a very good stretch of semi-athletic presidents. Bush, Clinton, Bush (even though he was old), Reagan were all former athletes or at least could run without falling down. Jimmy Carter ends that run pretty abruptly.
