1. Congrats on the 600th home run of Ken Griffey.  And I can promise you that none of the 6 players who have passed 600 home runs did it with less people at the ballpark or with less fan fare than Griffey, which is a shame because of the modern players who passed that mark (Bonds, Griffey, Sosa), he’s the only one that didn’t do roids.

2. Rick Dutrow is starting to switch over to my bad side as he starts laying blame all over the place except on himself.  Yesterday he said jockey Kent Desormenajudsbgvx(sp?) “didn’t know what the hell he was doing”.  I agree it didn’t appear like the cleanest ride in the world, but the fact that horse was just not prepared to run Saturday lays some blame on Dutrow.  Anyone wanna take bets on if Dutrow admits he has some blame.  Didn’t think so.  Oh, Tomlin you want to take that bet.  How much?  1,000 bucks.  IDIOT!!

3. John Clay is sorta with me on the fact that the Triple Crown races need to have some tweaking.  But, he says and others are quoted as saying the races are too long.  Shorten each of the races by a quarter or 1/8 of a mile and then see what happens.  I get that very few of you agree with what I wrote yesterday, but let me give you this example.  In 1968, pitching dominated baseball.  Bob Gibson had a under 2 ERA.  And baseball people knew that wasn’t fan friendly, so what did they do.  Lowered the mound.  Hitting increased and popularity increased.  If I was convinced that shortening the races would help the chances for a horse to win the Triple Crown, I would be all for it.  But, I still think spreading the races out would work better.  No need for everyone to comment about this, I got them all yesterday.

Just to make you all happy, I watched ALL 90 MINUTES of Italy-Netherlands yesterday.  It was quite one-sided, a little more exciting that I anticipated but still not enough for me to want to do it again this EURO 2008.  I tried, I am getting closer, but maybe World Cup 2010 I will give it another run.
