Brian Williams Out For Tomorrows Game

It looks like Brian Williams will be out for tomorrows game in Knoxville due to a back injury.  Local media is reporting that Bruce Pearl confirmed this earlier today.

Obviously this is good news for Kentucky.  While it’s fun to joke about Williams being fat, he’s actually pretty good at getting boards and put backs, two of the things that have hurt Kentucky all year.  With him on the bench, one of the biggest threats to Kentucky’s front line is no longer a factor.

From a personal stand point, it is a little disappointing.  It’s the kids Senior night, could be a huge game for seeding purposes, and he’s going to have to sit it out due to injury.  You never want to see that.  Still, the injury doesn’t seem too serious, so hopefully he can be up and ready to go for the post season.  You know, for his sake.

Of course, with Pearl’s history, you never know if he’s telling the truth or not.  Only time will tell.

Not sure. ‘Could be a more fluid situation then is being presented. You know he wants to play. We’ll need whatever help we can get down there. ‘Hate to see any kid miss his Senior Day. Jorts will still need to bring it in the paint in order for us to have a shot. GO BIG BLUE!!!

The only time Old Brucie has shown he’s a good coach is when his team is the underdog. By saying that Brian Williams won’t play, he’s given himself fodder to convince his team that they are, in fact, the underdog tomorrow. As we all know, though, Old Brucie isn’t exactly great at telling the truth and now it seems he’s willing to lie to his own press corps. So yeah…expect to see Williams playing tomorrow. Old Brucie’s statement just confirmed to me that he will.

Announcers will drool all over his toughness and heart when he plays.

I never, never believe injury reports from other coaches on the week they play Kentucky. Likewise with indefinite suspensions. Likewise with known suspensions, unless it’s SEC or NCAA-mandated.

Honestly do feel bad for Williams as a person, but he also could have been kicked out of school last year for his role in the weapon and pot incident that Tyler ended up taking all the blame for. So don’t feel too bad for him.

If Tennessee losses tommorrow combined with a first round SEC tournament loss, will they qualify for the NCAA tournament? In that senario they will sport an 18-14 overall record and 3-7 in their last ten.

    Goodbye Sweaty Bruce!

I’m not buying it. I can’t believe he won’t play on Senior Night…….against Kentucky. If he doesn’t play, it must be a serious injury like a severed spinal cord. Although I have no sympathy for UT or the fans, I do feel sympathy for a kid not playing in his last home game.

I will be back, ready to do the NBC Nightly News at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. In fact, I will be doing a special “Making a Difference” report on Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl, who as we know has survived a crucifixion, and yet found it in his heart to throw barbecues for high school seniors from the hood and places where they wear the hood.

    17) Probably. Tennessee, despite Brucey’s cheating and the football cheating, still has a reputation as being good people. So they can have a record equal to or worse than the one we had when he were relegated to the NIT and still have a better shot. It’s like they get a sympathy and overestimation that suggests they’re good for tourney drama.

That said, excepting 3 years in the last dozen or so, I’ve found Tennessee to be far more dangerous in the Big Dance than Florida, who is also always overrated.

#35-only difference between UK’s NIT team and this years UT team is that the Vols have (I think) 6 wins over RPI top 50 teams, which (again, I think) is the most in the nation.

There is absolutely no chance the Williams sits tomorrow. The reasons I say that..
    1. It is his Senior day and last game in Knoxville
    2. Tennessee is also now playing for a bye in the SEC Tournament
    3. Bruce Pearl is a LIAR (just ask the NCAA)

Mark it down he will probaby play 40 minutes tomorrow and pobably lose 20 lbs in the process.

    49) it is me Claw, not logged in. Thinking about changing my name though. Just need some relief today. Been crappy. Volunteered my time today to go out and help military veterans in town raise money for a veteran’s guest house. When the national anthem was playing at the beginning of the event, I just stood facing the flag. After the anthem finished a vet came over and hit me in the chest and said I was an a**hole for not putting my hand across my heart and said I was a disgrace. Sometimes you can just be standing still and get in trouble. Geeze. Somedays life just sucks.

And I will add, it is my right as an American to politely face a flag and not salute it. Some people are just not born to be ass-kissing followers of tradition.
