BREAKING: The Big East Needs A Map

Just when we thought conference realignment was dead, it comes back into our lives to confuse us all. And this time, it has no respect for the four cardinal directions. Brett McMurphy of CBSSports.com is reporting that the Big East will add five new schools tomorrow. Two of of them are in Texas, one is in Idaho, one is in California, and the other is in Florida. It makes perfect sense!!!

Boise State
San Diego State
Houston
SMU
Central Florida

The schools will officially join the league in 2013. That gives fans plenty of time to plan out the 2,704 mile road trip from UCF to Boise State for the tennis match. There is so much potential there.

6 lb 8 oz baby Jesus, please let the Big East lose its AQ football status soon. I cannot stand the idea of a glorified OVC continuing to be allowed an automatic bid into BCS games

This will just be for football although I’m curious what other conference is going to take all the other BSU teams. The Big Sky has already said no as has the Big West.

What’s strange is that I was just at the Air Force Academy over the past weekend for their basketball tournament, Idaho State played in it and their coaches along with South Florida’s told me that Boise State said no to the Big East and was staying in the MWC. Air Force said they were staying too.

Something obviously happened over the past few days.

    11. Mizzou borders 3 SEC states and TAMU borders 1 SEC state. Plus for Florida, Mizzou is barely any further away than Kentucky. We gained two top 25 programs without much travel. The Big Least didn’t add much at all and they’ll have to travel out the ass just to play some of these schools.

  43. #1 in the polls
    1:47 pm December 6, 2011 Permalink

41 I agree that our additions are better than theirs and that they suck. And Mizzou is as east as Arkansas and Louisiana, but AR and LA are south and MO is neither south, nor east (other than east of Kansas and the other west states). If it is east, then there is no central. I just think conference names mean much as far as South, East, 12, or 10, seeing as though Big 10 has 12 and Big 12 has 10, that’s all.

Seems to me I remember many Louisville fans and Rick Pitino saying that it made no sense for West Virginia to join the Big 12 (when Louisville was competing against them for Big 12 membership) because of those long trips to places like Lubbock. Something about fans not wanting to travel that far and kids missing more class time. What do they say now?
