Breakfast Club Revealed

gillie-breakfast

Calipari told us we’d eventually find out who started the breakfast club and it took all of one day for the names to come out. After Kentucky’s win over Samford last night, a couple of players revealed that Michael Kidd-Gilchrist started the early morning workouts. Kidd-Gilchrist was getting up early to work out on his own and Coach Cal suggested that he invite his teammates. The first time the group met, it was Kidd-Gilchrist, Anthony Davis, Kyle Wiltjer, and Terrence Jones.

The group changes from day-to-day and Marquis Teague said sometimes the whole team is involved. Teague, who said he’ll be at this morning’s 8:30 a.m. club, believes it is great for the team’s chemistry. “You don’t even have to do anything spectacular, just go in stretch together and lift weights or something like that,” he said.

Now that we know who started the group, is anyone even the least bit surprised that it was Michael Kidd-Gilchrist? Who else could it have possibly been over MKG? The kid is a workaholic and the undisputed leader of this Kentucky team — although he admitted he was timid at first. “At first I was scared to lead over the veterans,” he told reporters last night. “But now I know it’s OK. I want to be a leader. It’s all about team chemistry.”

They just don’t make many like Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. I’m glad he’s in blue.

He might be the main reason we hang #8 in April. There are many reasons. He might just be the main one though. That kid…is something special. You simply cannot teach what he has.

I think MKG needs 4 years of college experience at the University of Kentucky. See what you can do to make that happen.

Damn the NBA keeping the 1 year rule, MKG and Davis would be great to have around for another year. Enjoy these guys in blue while you can because they sure are fun to watch.

Not to take anything away from MKG (he’s amazing and a thrill to watch) but Darius Miller is the leader of this team and it will show in SEC play, if not on New Years Eve.

So 8:30 is now EARLY morning. They do some stretching and then its off to breakfast. I know they work hard, glad they are getting together and K-Gilchrist is the best but lets not get carried away.

Darius is too busy playing more video-games than any other college kid in America not on Louisville’s football team. His own Twitter feed reveals that.

maybe miller doesn’t realize that if he really busted his a$$ that he would have a shot at the NBA. One of these days he is going to look back and realize what could have been.

White Castle is now testing the offering of alcohol. Do we now have to consider whether a nice Chardonnay or a Malbec goes better with a slider? Thank goodness we can now get drunk at White Castle instead of just going there after getting sloppy.

Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did *was* wrong. But we think you’re crazy to make an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us – In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us
    is a brain…
    and an athlete…
    and a basket case…
    a princess…
    and a criminal…
Does that answer your question?… Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.

I thought it was strange that the broadcast said Calipari wanted to keep the names private so as to not single out anyone and then they proceed to tell the names!

The problem with things like this getting out is that it brings negativity toward players that weren’t mentioned. Just beucase Miller wasn’t there doesn’t mean he’s not working hard or gelling with his teammates. Get a grip people.

Miller is fine and works pretty damn hard. He was shooting before the game last night at like 5pm… Everyone needs to chill.

I agree with #21 about the names being released, but we have to know that I’m sure that everyone on the team is working hard and doing what they can to get better during the Christmas break. Now is usually when the team really progresses due to the extra practice time. I am still glad that the team is working to do what they can to leave it all on the court. We will be just fine and Gilchrist’s leadership is needed. He is a winner and has a huge heart!

I think that Coach Cal talked about it because, he would like all of the players to volunteer to do it, without him making it mandatory.
