Brandon Knight has been named a finalist for yet another award. This time he is one of six finalist’s for McDonald’s Morgan Wootten award, given to the male high school player of the year. His competition in this award contains two new names and couple familiar ones. He’ll be up against Harrison Barnes (UNC), Kyrie Irving (Duke), Jared Sullinger (Ohio State), Perry Jones (Baylor) and Tristan Thompson (Texas). The award winner will be named on March 10th.
Knight was previously named a finalist for the Naismith Player of the Year award, the high school counterpart of the NCAA’s equivalent award. Knight is currently averaging 32.7 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals per game (Source: Miami Herald). He will lead his Pine Crest team against Williston in the Class 3A state semifinals today at 2:30pm. The winner of the McDonald’s Morgan Wootten award will be named on March 10th.
