Bob Knight, Still An Idiot

This almost seems like an annual post at this point, but it’s one that I suppose is worth mentioning. Here is the gist of it: Bob Knight. Indiana audience. John Calipari. Factual inaccuracies. I think that about sums it up. If I missed anything, let me know.

This has gone on long enough. Calipari and the University has taken the high road long enough and need to take action against Knight. This is truly damaging and he needs to be forced to issue a public apology, recognize that this is slander and needs to keep his yapper shut in the future while a camera is rolling. #asshat

Bob Knight has been over rated his entire career. I blame the idiots at ESPN for even giving him a platform to speak from If they didn’t have him on air, he would have been forgotten a long time ago. He always gives his biased and slanted views on the subjects he discusses. He’s not a journalist, he’s not an analyst, he’s not even a good announcer. He’s a jerk, has always been a jerk and will die a jerk. I don’t even know why KSR is posting about him? I have one last word about Bob Knight, LOSER.

Wow, nice to see he is still bitter about UK owning his ass during the later part of his tenure at IU. How can he even think about saying that about the players going to class. I guess he was right there checking on them all. What a dumbass he is. He makes himself look stupid with a statement like that. Everyone knows that he can not prove that and that is just what he thinks.

So, if the landscape of college b-ball was the same in the 70’s as it is today, and John Wall and Demarcus Cousins wanted to sign with IU, Knight would turn them down because they might only be there one year? Please. It’s easy to create self-integrity when you’re years removed from the game.

And obviously Cal is the only coach that signs one-and-done players. Knight is a blowhard, and I find it comical the way the fans up there slurp all over such an obvious prick.

I bet Patrick Patterson would have something to say to him about earning a degree in 3 years and then doing work in the NBA. Knight has a 4.0. The only one I ever knew of that didn’t finish his classes was Orton. The stupid part is he is talking about the past. He won’t talk about the here and now. And also, wasn’t there a huge deal made about how the team had a low GPA? Don’t you have to go to class and actually turn work in to even have a GPA? Screw him. They’re all making more money than he is and they don’t need a degree. I know if I were to win the lottery I’d quit college in a heartbeat.

So who were the five players: If it were true it would have to be Wall, Cousins, Orton, Bledsoe, and Dodson.

Now does he really expect anyone to believe that other than Wall and Cousins, any of those other players felt so confident in their abilities that the NBA was a sure fire route for them.

I thought Wall actually finished up his course work as well as Cousins for the sememester and the only one to bolt early was Orton but I might have my facts mixed up.

I won’t even get into his quote about women and rape.

Cal may have had his issues in the past in regards to his recruiting, but at least the man is a model citizen, cares about his players, and helps out in the community. I’d take operating in the gray area of recruiting then the sorry excuse of a human being BK is.

Never has it been reported that all five players didn’t go to class for the entire semester. Therefore he’s full of crap. Classic case of hearing something and each person tells a different story to where the story changes completely, especially with a lot of media outlets dislike of the UK program, easily done. Bob Knight has no knowledge as to what ANY player at UK does in their own time, all time winningest coach (…for now) or not, what he says about UK should be taken with a grain of salt. Pointless. And Knight needs to wake up and realize he isn’t in the 80’s anymore the NBA would NEVER take the MLB/college rule.

That talk took place at the Honeywell Center in Wabash, Indiana. I cannot believe the audience let him get by with that since 80% of Wabash has ties to Eastern Kentucky, but since it was Bob Knight, there probably weren’t too many UK fans in attendance. Wabash Indiana has always been referred to as WabaTucky. I bet you one thing, had I been there, they would have thrown my ass out. No doubt Tom Spiece brought him in. He is the brains and money behind the Spiece AAU teams and sponsorship as well as Spiece Fieldhouse in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Tom even has a Bob Knight mannequin that’s just like Knight. He used to have season tickets ( I suppose he still does) for he and the mannequin, and yes, on the front row. I’m sure you have seen it on ESPN. Tom made sure it made it for those ESPN televised games. At one time he wouldn’t even put UK items in his stores, but finally started doing so after years. I know, I live in the area.

When does a retired coach become irrelevant?
    1. When his coaching methods become out of touch with today’s youth: CHECK.
    2. When nobody wants to hire him today: CHECK.
    3. When most kids playing ball in youth leagues don’t know who he is or where he coached: CHECK
    4. When he gives grumpy old man speaches to hometown crowds filled with more old people: CHECK
    5. When your only remaining claim to fame (most wins) will be surpassed by a man who did it in 5 fewer years and with 87 fewer losses: CHECK Duke’s record around Thanksgiving.

It is shocking that ESPN would retain him as anything. He is obviously ignorant when it comes to UK basketball. I do however, agree with him that something should be done about the one and done rule. I am NOT agreeing with him on his solution or ANYTHING else he said. With that being said, Calipari has said himself he does not like the one and done rule and he only plays within the rules of the game. Knight is like many others, they recognize Calipari as being far better than they are at this game of recruiting. He handles his jealousy by spouting false statements and stirring the cloud of negativity over the UK program. At this time that is all it is a cloud and there remains no factual evidence of anything negative surrounding the UK program. Grats to Cal for dominating his peers and his lesser peers like Knight.

Why should the kids be required to go to college for 3 years when their scholarship can be revoked after one year? There is no guarantee that a scholarship athlete will be on scholarship anymore than one year. They have to earn the second, third and fourth year with their play and academics. If they fail to do that but still want to play pro, they should be allowed to do that by the NBA, the NCAA and everyone else. Chances are though that if they wasted their scholarship, they won’t be able to cut it in the pros. I don’t like the one and done rule either. Best solution is to make it two years but guarantee them a scholarship for two years as long as their academics are in order. Seems pretty simple to me. That and allow those ready to jump from high school to the NBA.

I would like for someone that might know to tell me just why a person like Barnes would return to college and none of Kentucky’s future NBA players will not return. Is it a love for NC and Roy or what? I truly bellieve that if Barnes had come to Kentucky he would have left after one year. Same with any other future NBA player. I do understand why Hanbrough stayed. He didn’t need the money that much. His father is a successful doctor of some kind.

The one and done rule, for now, is here and there is nothing wrong with these players who want to leave after that 1st year.
Cal is simply smart enough to cater to these players who are pro ready, to have them come in along with 3 and 4 star players who can work in his system. Any other coach, if they had his recruiting abilities would do the same, they would be lying if they say otherwise!! As for Bob Knight, he is a utter, and complete joke of a coach and human being. Watch this man, listen to what he says, watch the way he treats people, and for God Sakes do not be like him!!!! Best Parent advise ever!!!!

Sorry Coach Knight preaches the truth. That’s one thing I respect about RMK. He is not afraid to tell it like it is, like it or not.
I really do like his proposal of treating college basketball like baseball. Sign ’em or require ’em to stay three years. That also allows them the right to go early.

Coach Cal is smart to just let Bob Knight self destruct. But ESPN or someone needs to put him on the spot where he must reveal his sources or retract his statsments. Someone might actually believe him. My undersanding is that the only player who didn’t take care of business that semester was Orton and he was not a starter. The only time I ever heard Knight admit to making a mistake was in a book by Larry Bird where Knight seemed to admit that maybe he should have handled Birds career as a Hoosier player differently. You Think?

unbelievable. there should be consequences for a public figure to slander any public organization REGARDLESS of whether it is on public television or in a dinky town hall meeting. bob knight is classless (beating up kids, throwing chairs on floors, etc.) and now a hypocrite speaking of integrity while only 2 minutes later he is breaking his “integrity” by lying about completely made up facts. coming from a senior marketing student at UK, basketball players have some star treatment but not once have I seen them deliberately skip class or skimp out on any assignment without consequences. this is an accredited university, the pride of the state of kentucky, and we carry ourselves that way.

I think its hilarious that he will go on and on about the integrity of college basketball when he got fired for his abuse, verbally and physically of the players that made up his team. Bob Knight was just as big a problem with college basketball as his complaints about the “one and dones.” I agree with the idea that the NBA should be able to recruit high school graduates, but to hear him complain about the integrity of college basketball is a complete farce.

Bobby Knight can continue to baste in his bitterness of being passed by as an irrelevant voice from the past, but I think it’s unconscionable that ESPN uses him as a college basketball analyst when he’s such a loaded gun. I just got onto ESPN’s website and sent an email expressing my feelings and how I turn the channel when he’s on because he is boring, adds nothing with his analysis that any fan doesn’t already know, and he is unreliable as an unbiased commentator. Bobby can make these kind of ludicrous statements all he wants and get paid well for it in Indiana–Hoosier fans have nothing else college-basketball related to watch/listen to anyway–but you can’t make these kind of statements and then carry the title of ESPN College Basketball Analyst with any sense of credibility.

Bob Knight is a bitter old man who wishes his successes in the past actually meant something now, but the truth is no one cares. He missed out on all of the stuff that coaches have now and is bitter about it. Once again he gets his facts wrong and uses inflammatory statements to pander to an IU crowd to make them feel happy about their program for the first time in years. I hope that he realizes that if he were coaching right now he would be whipped resoundingly and often by the likes of so called mid major coaches and would never compete for any of the great players because who really wants to live in Indiana, much less if you have to be beaten both physically and mentally while doing so. He sits on his high horse of success that is built on abuse, intimidation, and misinformation about or against students and other universities. It’s just pitiful.

Anyone who will choke and head butt their players, throw chairs at officials, should be banned from Collegiate sports. He only got away with it for so long because those dumbass Hoosiers let him. Now that Indiana basketball sucks they want to talk integrity after they had a tyrant running their program for years. Bunch of jealous idiots

Let me get this right we should listen and give credence to Bob Kn ight, former IU coach because:
    1. He was the guy who punched a referee in the chops during the Pan Am games in Puerto Rico becaiuse he didn’t agree with the referee.
    2. He was the guy who choked and hit one of his own players because he didn’t like the players effort during practice and then denied the players oral report and continued to deny it until a video was produced and then refused to talk about it.
    3. He was the guy who threw a chair across the floor during a game because he was upset with the referees, the other team, the other coach, take your pick.
    4. He was the guy who threatened a student in line at the IU ticket office because he didn’t like the students comment.
    5. He was the guy who slapped Joe B. Hall in the back of the head after IU beat UK in 1975, only to lose to UK in the regional finals the following March.
    6. He was the guy who slapped his former player in the back of the head before a game against IU when the former player was coaching Iowa.
    7. He was the guy who kicked his own son, then a player, while he was on the bench because of his sons play during a game.

Certainly this Bob Knight is a great guy who deserves our admiration, adulation and respect. He may know his X’s and O’s but he is a deplorable human being. Devoid of decency and respect for anyone other than himself. He may be in the hall of fame, but he should be removed.
