Bob Knight ruling the roost at ESPN?

The perpetual pain in ESPN’s ass, Sports By Brooks, has a post this afternoon outlining why Bruce Pearl has not yet been hired as a television analyst, despite it being widely assumed and rumored that he’d land at ESPN after being fired by Tennessee.  It has nothing to do with any NCAA rule or anything to do with his agreement with Tennessee to remain in support of the school.  In fact, according to Brooks, it has a lot to do with Bob Knight.

According to Brooks’ source at ESPN, Knight despises Pearl and has used his close friendship with programming executive Norby Williamson to create a previously non-existant rule that will not allow Pearl to be hired while there are NCAA issues hanging over his head.  It’s a policy that contradicts the network’s hiring of Lou Holtz?  So what does this all mean to you?

Probably nothing.  Here’s a bear bouncing on a trampoline.

I think Knight is an idiot who is senile at this point but Bruce Pearl is not appropriate to put on display on ESPN. Just like today I saw Pryor on John Gruden’s piece on QBs on ESPN. These guys break the rules and are rewarded. Excuse me while I wretch.

Knight is an impotent, angry old guy who wears his prejudices on his sleeve. If he can be on EXPN then anyone ought to be able to.

I guess Bob Knight wants to be the only coach without integrity at ESPN?

I wonder if Coach Integrity will make the same demands if ESPN should bring Jim Tressel on board. I think not.

Why would Bruce Pearl be relevant at ESPN? What’s he done?

Besides remind garbage workers across America that their basketball team is and always will be stained like fat guys underwear.

The bear was fine. This happened a few years ago in my town. It does look really bad, but bears are tough critters. He was taken up and released in the Cabinet Mtns if I remember correctly.

15…thanks for the update on the bear. I thought it was dead. I choose to believe your story about it living.

The thing I took away from the SBB story is that Lou Holtz left his last three head coaching positions under NCAA investigation where HE was implicated in the violations. The same people who never mention this are the first to call Cal a scumbag.

When will bobby knight just hang it up? I hav always been a UK fan and used to have tremendous respect for him, but the older he gets the more hateful and pissy he gets. Especially when he doesn’t get his way! Why even have him as a commentator, he sucks! Stick with what your good at coach, coaching and those days are over! Or go coach your great, great grand kids team or whatever and throw a couple of chairs around when u dont get your way! Nobody really cares to hear what you have to say!

Bobby Knight really…..really I mean this guy goes around the state of Indiana spewing half truths about UK, well not even a half truth. Probably doing the same thing about Pearl. Bruce has no more NCAA clouds hanging over his head than Bobby does.
