Bledsoe Benched

I think they were technically on the bench.

When Eric Bledsoe was leaving for the NBA last year, one of the biggest question marks was – would he be able to do what he did last year, in the NBA?  With his build, could he be an elite NBA point guard?  After almost two months of NBA ball, the answer seems to be – yes, Eric could hack it.  Just maybe not right now.

Bledsoe was put into a reserve role this weekend to let the rehabilitated Baron Davis take back over the point for the Clippers.  Head Coach Del Negro said it was more of a learning move than a demotion, citing that both Bledsoe and Al-Farouq Aminu needed to cut down on mistakes.  Bledsoe had been averaging about 3 turnovers per game to 5 assists.

Given some of his early performances, it’s almost a given that Bledsoe will be agreat NBA point guard in the future, but for now – just like this time last year – Bledsoe still has some consistency issues to work out.  And hey, first off the bench behind Baron Davis ain’t so bad.
