Billy Clyde Continues to Make Friends
NBCSports.com today reportst that our friend Billy Clyde is still doing Billy Clyde things. Since the end of the season, Gillispie has had 6 players transfer from Texas Tech, a fairly remarkable turnover for a coach who has finished his first year. Some turnover is inevitable when a new coach takes over a team, but Billy Clyde’s seems especially personal. Of the 6 players who have left, 5 of them are Freshmen that Gillispie himself brought into the program. Overall, 10 new players joined Texas Tech basketball when Gillispie was hired, and as of now, five of them have left after less than a full year.
If there was a book to be written that were the exact opposite of “How to Win Friends and Influence People”, Gillispie would seem to be a perfect candidate for the author.

I certainly wished BCG well and hoped he’d gotten his demons under control. But this guy needs some professional help. TT gave him a 2nd chance, and sounds like he might be making them wish they hadn’t.
Sure Mitch (finally) hired Cal – but he hired BCG to run the UK ship. What the hell was he thinking. Oh yeah, and Mitch gave us “coach in waithing” Joker. Well Mitch, we’re still waiting for a football coach.
Texas Tech’s AD should be fired now along with BCG, before BCG does something to embarrass the school and/or cost them a law suit.

Billy Clyde isn’t for everyone. He WILL win at TTU though, despite how upset that may make you.
bcg turns over the roster cause his recruiting philosphy is if you throw enough shit at the wall some of it is bound to stick.

18, 20. He will NOT win at TTU. The man can’t coach and he has serious problems. His style is old and out-dated. His players are constantly injured and over-worked. He has a total disregard for player safety and welfare. He thinks he can just stand on the sideline and coach but being a coach of a division I program is more than that even at a place like TTU. He’s also a danger to society with his drunk driving. The only way he’s going to learn is when he kills someone. Then how are you going to feel for poor ol’ Billy Clyde?

If not, then by your own logic I suppose that you are in no better position to defend BCG than we are to criticize him, since that seems to be your standard for having an opinion on him. For the rest of us, we will take suffering through two years of the “Billy Clyde Experiment” as credentials enough to know where TTU’s program is headed.

Maybe (maybe), he was a good coach at one time. He’s clearly not anymore. In fact, it’s not an exaggeration to say he’s probably one of the worst coaches in the country.

The AD who hired this guy after what went on at UK needs to not only be fired, but he should also have to return all of his salary after hiring Billy Clyde and then be run out of town by an angry mob. This hire was ridiculously bad and he should feel bad. Seriously, how do so many people that are that stupid get in such high positions?
