Best Draft Class in History?

With the upcoming NBA draft, and the nearly certain fact that 4 UK players will be selected in the first round, it’s worth looking back at the other instances of schools with 4 first round draft picks.  Take note that NEVER has a school had 5 first round draft picks, so all eyes are on you, Eric Bledsoe, bring home that record.  Now, I would say guess the 2006 UCONN draft class has been the best of this group, with each of those 4 players playing significant minutes in the league and likely to have long careers.  Duke’s class only has 2 players left in the league, and McCants and May have had less than stellar careers.

1999 (Duke)
Elton Brand (1st)
Trajan Langdon (11th)
Corey Maggette (13th)
William Avery (14th)

2005 (North Carolina)
Marvin Williams (2nd)
Raymond Felton (5th)
Sean May (13th)
Rashard McCants (14th)

2006 (Connecticut)
Rudy Gay (8th)
Hilton Armstrong (12th)
Marcus Williams (22nd)
Josh Boone (23rd)
Note: Denham Brown was selected with the 40th pick (2nd round)

So, the question, which will not be answered for many years, is whether this UK draft class will be the best in history.  I feel very confident that John Wall and Demarcus Cousins will be stars in the league.  Patterson and Orton I am less sure in, but the potential is there for them to be very good too.  And Bledsoe is certainly the wildcard in the class.  I will always say that if Azubuike can make it good in the NBA, then I will hold out hope for any UK player.
