University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Benton, Lowery and Neloms are out

The hits keeping coming to Kentucky football’s depth chart. After today’s practice, Joker Phillips announced that Mikie Benton, Ashely Lowery, and Martavius Neloms will not travel to Arkansas due to injuries. Those were the top three safeties going into fall camp, before Neloms was moved to corner.

Starting in place of the banged up trio will be the freshman twin brothers, Zack and Daron Blaylock. Freshman Cody Quinn will start at corner opposite Cartier Rice.

If that doesn’t tell you how bad it is, this stat should do it…

Of the 30 defensive players traveling to Fayetteville, 23 of them are freshmen and sophomores.

Yay for experience.

I hate it for the team, but they are going to get murdered through the air without those boys.

Rumor is Joker and Sanders may apply for a redshirt for this season….neither was mentally there for more than a third of the season.

This staff made their own bed by running off upperclassmen that could have helped this team. No excuses.

lhl is reporting today that morgan newton is #1 on the character depth chart. that’s great i guess, since he’s #4 on the qb depth chart.

Where are all the upperclassment? Why aren’t they contributing more? Wasn’t Joker our main recruiter for the past 5-6 years? You mean they could not coach-up the guys better than this(i.e Newton)?
If there are no good upperclassmen that can contribute…who should we blame?

U of Smell is having their tip off lunch as we speak. It is at Porcini’s. The wait time for seating is 15 seconds.

Thanks Jack Nicklaus that’s what I’ve been saying all along. Joker was in charge of recruiting before he became the head coach. Him saying they’re so young is all on him.

    3. Piss poor recruiting management
    4. Piss poor game preparation

    I’m sensing a theme here.

Actually the NCAA put a rule in place when Texas named Muschamp its head coach in waiting that stated that the hciw could not be the recruiting cordinator and would be limited in recruiting as the head coach. Which is why Joker replaced many of Brooks staff who were good coaches but poor recruitors.

Joker is using the injury situation as his last and final Hail Mary to try to keep his job next year. Any AD with any sense at all would not fall for it, but I am quite worried that Barnhart might not fall into that group.

Wow… you’re right KSR, we are young! Oh man, I have misjudged Joker. I thought he was a terrible coach who makes terrible decisions, in game and with personnel. I thought he had a 6-7 5-7 and 1-5 record since taking over the last 3 years but I see thats simply not true. Us becoming the laughing stock of college football is not Joker’s fault. He’s just IN CHARGE.

Its so obvioius now. We’re just young this year. That explains ALL of the problems he’s had.

Not so fast My Friend, If you paid any intention to the game on Saturday you will see that the older guys wasnt making plays in the secondary. i hate to see them injured but it was about time to replace them anyway. How many interception or passbreakup do they have together after 6 games. Them guys play the receiver not the ball. i say at least give the guy in waiting a chance to make plays until you figure out who is your best players on the field. We are still BABYSITTING PLAYERS in SEC. and thats the reason why we are losing. PUT your BEST 11 OUT there and ADD a AGGRESSIVE Offensive Coordinator and AGGRESSIVE Defensive Coordinator when it comes to CALLING PLAYS

Hang in there Joker. I’ll give up this year to play all the youngsters and that will no doubt help our future!!! Sanders and Minter need to go and bring in new blood there. Love
I can see us 10-2 years to come

    28: 10-2 years? Joker could coach until he’s 100 and he’ll never have a 10-2 year. Hell, so far after 3 years, he’s won only 12. 10-2-HA!
