Ben Bradley is in town today

If you happen to walk past a 6-foot-2, 315-pound guy on campus today, don’t be alarmed.  It’s just Ben Bradley in town for his visit.  Bradley is a 4-star JUCO defensive tackle from Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas.  He originally planned to announce his college decision on Wednesday but pushed the decision off until Monday so he can visit Kentucky and Auburn this weekend.  Bradley will sign right away so he can enroll in classes for the spring semester.

He is also considering Auburn, Missouri, Nebraska and Tennessee.

#7 I’ll go one better than you…how about we actually see them sign THEN take the field THEN win some games? I understand the fresh start and the excitement of a new coach, and its understandable that after a 2-10 season its not going to be easy to recruit, but that list has a lot of 3 star players that look very similar to what UK has signed the past couple years. Regardless, I don’t care about the stars, just prove they can perform and win and I’ll give Kudos to Stoops all day long after that.

10 – Most of the reason why those 3* recruits were not so great was not due to their talent, it was due to poor coaching and lack of developing them as players. Ever heard of Bjorn Werner? 3-star player… now is an all american and top 5 NFL pick. How bout Johnny Manziel? 3 star QB that just won the heisman.

    # 10 – I think you need to go back and see who we signed in the last couple of years. Combined, they don’t come anywhere close to matching the list above. We won’t get all these guys, but at least they are visiting. And, some of these guys had shown interest in UK before Joker left, yet somehow were not contacted by the UK staff. Our effort at recruiting has improved 100% since the Stoops Gang arrived. We’ll find out in February for sure if he’s doing a good job at recruiting. For now, I am VERY pleased with the way things are going.

You should care very much about the stars, because it is a proven fact that the higher the class rating the more success comes on the field. Talent is everything in both basketball and football. Examples: UK Basketball (among others) and Alabama Football(among others). I am sick and tired of recruiting against the MAC and Sun Belt and not performing on the field.

As I recall Randall Cobb and Wesley Woodyard were three star recruits. Morgan Newton was the end all be all at four stars so let’s not get hung up on a 3 vs 4 star guy.

The Hatcher possibly to Ky Is wrong from the people I’ve talked to. He more likely will be heading to the dirty birds with quick. They are also rooming together in the all-am game (of course they are they goto school together)! I’m not a source just what I’ve heard.

If we get Bradley….watch out, because we will FINALLY have an actual, legit SEC defensive line. Za’Darius Smith and Bud Dupree (who will excel in this spot) at the ends, with Bradley, Rumph, and Cobble to man the tackle spots, meaning one of those three will be a backup. That will be a DL unlike any that we’ve seen here in quite some time. If only Jarmon would have been able to play his last season, then that would have been the only DL better than this. Might take a few games to acclimate the JUCO’s, but they will have time. If we get Hatcher, which i won’t let myself get too excited about, then it will boost our DL to a top 5 SEC Dl next season. I can’t even comprehend what that would be like. All this said, a lot of work needs to be done. But it IS possible.

Give me…Bradley, Sample, Timmons, Hytchye, Woulard, Mackensie Alexander, and call this a top 20 class. What’s great is….most of those players are highly possible, if not probable. STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS

15, i completely agree with you. star rankings are inconsistent. aaron boyd and john logan were both 4*s and they didn’t pan out that well. meanwhile danny trevethan was a 2* on some services. people get to wrapped up in star rankings. better to look at each player’s offer sheet, performance against the level of their HS competition (KY 3A vs Florida 3A, for example), and any injuries, bad grades, or early commitments that may make their offer sheet seem less appealing. but doing all that is too hard for most. they just look at a star ranking and move on.

17 u mean adding 1 or 2 guys to the d line from last year that gave up a bazillion yards and points to vandy, mizzou, ark, etc is gonna propel uk to greatness? and adding hatcher makes d line sec top5? good lord some of u need to lay down the crackpipe.

#14 No I do not and will not care about the freakin star rankings. UK has signed a few 4 star kids like Morgan Newton, Alex Smith (gone), Micah Johnson (underachiver), Micah Jones (injury) that never panned out. And of course we have signed 2 star kids that are now in the NFL. I just don’t care what they are ranked or what they are SUPPOSED to do. I want to see it on the field and then I’ll be excited once they have on the uniform and its good and dirty. I don’t care if Stoops signs 10 4* players! If they pan out and translate to winning records, then and only then will that be impressive. Recruiting is measured in hindsight. Visits don’t matter, verbal commits don’t matter, signings don’t even matter. PERFORMANCE matters. Sorry for the rant, but look at some of you guys… based on a couple players coming simply for a free meal and a visit you are dreaming of top 5 SEC defensive lines and top 20 classes. Puhleeze

#21.The odds of 4* players flooping are a a lot less than having a 2* become a NFL great. A lot of our players should have been playing a mid level MAC or Sunbelt schools. Joker wasn’t signing 4* players, he got about 10-15 total in the last 6 years as a recuiter. You can not compete in the SEC with this type of player. Even if Stoops only signs 2-4 players that are ranked higher, we will be better off. We are slow and undersized. Any player with any size or speed at a special position, aka, defensive end, back or running back or receiver will have a chance to play immediately because we are slow and undersized. It will take 2-3 years for us to have a team to become bowl eligible with the mess with have at UK.

That Sugar Bowl win sealed the deal with several 4 star prospects for Dirty Birds.Maybe IF we cak compete in the SEC in the next 3-5 years we will have a shot. Until then watch Louisville rack up the commits. Sigh……
