Since Drew Barker’s comittment to the University of Kentucky, it has been well documented he has been one of the football team’s best recruiters. Befriending players is a great way to encourage them to join the cause. Despite the new staff’s urgency to acquire one of the best players in the state, his friendship with Freshman Wide Receiver Cameron Fogle may have helped even more. The former Conner High School WR has been best friends with Barker since they were kids. Fogle knew their relationship wouldn’t end once high school was over, but he wanted nothing more than to continue their relationship on the field.
“I made sure I was the last text he got at night and the first one he got each morning.” Those texts will pay dividends down the road for Big Blue Nation, but nothing means more to Fogle than having the chance to spend more time with his friend and Quarterback. “It’s pretty special. That’s my best friend. When he came over to my house and told me that he was coming to UK it was really cool. I couldn’t be happier that he’s coming here.”
