Time to talk about football.
Yesterday Venetti said UofL would play their usual tough nonconference schedule next year just like they did last. Last year, he said, Pitino scheduled Ohio, Long Beach St & Bellarmine. Yes he said Bellarmine.
All the winning and banners, great players, great fanbase put something that should be so obvious in perspective, but apparently has been ignored.

I went and yes Matt and Ryan, when the bus pulled up and the announcer introduced them as “Your 2012 NCAA Champs” it was the loudest I have ever been hear Rupp and was prob the loudest I have ever heard anything. It was so loud it felt the building was shaking and my hears were ringing. It was def a great experience and I’m glad I went, will always remember that moment.

Wonder if any thought was given to using the football stadium so more could be involved say on Sat or Sunday?
I agree about the celebrations, those who work full time and couldn’t take off yesterday feel left out. I was up celebrating all night Monday night and had to work early the next morning and I had to miss all the celebration. Should have had players go home and rest (they all looked tired) and held something yesterday evening or today. That would at least give us an opportunity to ask off.
UK’s Rifle Team Rocks!
Awesome time in New Orleans. Drove back after the celebration down there, and made it to Lexington just in time for the banner unveiling in Rupp. Then slept for 12 straight hours. Definitely the best 24 hours I’ve had in a long time. Rupp was deafening loud.

Come on, Matt, stop whining about missing the banner raising celebration. You were lucky enough to spend a week in NOLA in the middle of all the madness. Some of us didn’t get to do either, due to work, commitments, lack of funds, etc.
I went it was great the free posters are awesome. I took my camera and zoom lens and they told me I had to take the zoom lens back to the car because Rupp had an agreement with UK that only the press and UK could have cameras with lenses attached longer than 5 inches. Of course I just stuck the lens in the side of the camera bag and went to another security guard and got in.
A basketball championship celebration would be good to have at Commonwealth. Do it on a weekend so parking isn’t much of an issue, good weather this time of year, and you don’t need to worry about tickets–just open it up. You could make everyone sit through the Spring football game first to garner some smoke-and-mirrors support for the football team.
16 – I think that was pure joy at seeing BBN there cheering for this team, and the realization by Cal that the monkey is finally off his back.

No one has given props to Terrence Jones for his play on Robinson, especially after he had that NASTY ankle sprain. Love how he finished out his UK career.

Orlando “Shamu” worker should have kept his job and just gone to the BW3s in Casselberry (Orlando suburb)…300-400 UK fans (and one unfortunate table of misguided Kansas fans)…One of the best environments in which I have watched a UK game. The Central Florida UK Alumni Club should be VERY proud!!
My brother and I were upgraded to lower level seats for Monday night’s championship because the usher said UK fans were so nice to her during the SEC tournament. No lie, she said “you people are crazy! It’s like every single game is the Super Bowl!”

I think Anthony Davis and MKG need to make an appearance at the new Casa de Chester above ground pool. On a side note, my neighbor spent all last Summer looking for their dog, Petey. They looked everywhere. Put up signs, called the local shelters daily. Towards the end of the summer they decided to clean their above ground pool, which was covered. Let’s just say they finally found out where Petey was. RIP Petey

I was flying between Manila, Philippines and Tokyo, Japan while the NC game was playing. I landed about 30 minutes after the game ended and I had no idea who had won. Obviously, I was wearing my UK Blue. I was walking to the Delta Sky Lounge to get on-line to see what happened, a fellow stopped me and told me that the Cats had won. I was pretty excited, until he opened his jacket to reveal his Kansas Jayhawks t-shirt. He was really gracious and I congratulated him on his team’s unlikely run.

CBS poll was based on Shabazz, Noel, and Bennett coming here. I think ESPN’s is based on none of them coming and us at #5, but if we were to get two of the three, we would move up. That’s why there’s a difference.

completely disagree Matt. If it’s a business decision, someone might look at their stock now and determine they can improve stock next year. So, that does matter. If Teague believes he can improve skills and up his stock next year and move from a late first rounder to a borderline lottery pick, then that would be a good business decision. You’re so quick to shut down people before you even hear them out..

Took my son to the celebration at Rupp yesterday with some of his friends and toured campus after. Brian Long and Sam Malone happened to be walking around (Sam Malone with his piece of the net still stuck in his hat) and outside of UK Bookstore, they actually stopped our group (3 8YO boys) to chat and pose for pictures. Such a great group of guys and such a memorable experience for those young fans. Matt, if you get the chance to say anything to those two young men, please, please, please express my most sincere thanks as a father and UK Alumnus.

My thinking: This year is a loaded draft. Next year will not be anywhere near as strong and guards will be a hot commodity. You cannot tell me if he stays 1 more year he cant get higher than 18th. If he stays, I think he is a definitely top 10 pic. FROM A BUSINESS STANDPOINT IT MAKES BEST SENSE TO STAY.

I don’t even think Cal is considering the NBA. Cal is 53. Going to a bad Knick or Nets team would require 3-5 years to make them a contender IF he does well. This would put him in his late 50’s before he would even have a chance at contending. It’s too late in his career, and you can tell that he is so exhausted from coaching that he won’t be coaching much longer as it is.
122 — This is a FAR from loaded draft for PGs. The top four (ESPN, Chad Ford) are Damian Lillard, Kendall Marshall, Tony Past Tense for Writes, and Marquis Teague. A solid showing at a combine or workout could easily see him jump up higher than the 28th he’s currently projected.

My wife, who you have met before at a family function in Frankfort (Halbieb) travels for work and stays at Marriott’s. Marriott point redemption is based on the quality of hotel you redeem the points for. My wife currently has over 100K Marriott points so if we stayed at a 1 star hotel, that is 7500 points. A really nice hotel is around 20-25K.
