Bam Margera wants Friday Night Notes

Professional skateboarder, television personality and daredevil Bam Margera is celebrating his 33rd birthday today. Known for his role in the Jackass TV series and movies, and as part of his Viva La Bam series, Bam Margera has been making videos of he and his friends doing stupid stuff — and suffering painful accidents — for years.

If you’ve never seen any of the crude humor in Jackass, I won’t say you’re missing out. It takes a certain kind of tolerance for really dumb, painful, and sometimes grotesque acts to appreciate. It is for that reason I won’t link anything, either. But for those who have seen him, Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man and the late Ryan Dunn continually punish themselves for the sake of humor, we are all grateful.

Happy birthday to Bam. You have brought laughs to millions of immature-at-heart adults at your own expense. Here’s to 33 more years!

Now to the notes.

************

— In case you missed the news this morning, James Young — a top priority target for John Calipari in the 2013 class — will visit take an unofficial visit to Kentucky. It is believed by many that the battle is down to the Cats and Syracuse, with UK being the team to beat. He could be the second domino to fall in what will likely be a monster recruiting class for Cal.

— Speaking of a monster 2013 class, Julius Randle is another high priority target and there is good news from his camp. A USA Today writer with an all-access pass to Randle joined Matt and the crew on the radio show this morning. When asked what school he thought Randle would decide on. He said if he had to pick right now, “I’m going with Kentucky.”

— There aren’t many times I wish I wasn’t John Wall. But today is one of those times. The Washington Wizards announced today that Wall suffered a stress fracture in his patella and will be out for eight weeks. Fortunately, doctors seem to have noticed the injury early and he will be able to avoid going under the knife. Furthermore, he probably has enough money in his savings account to tide him over for the couple of months he’s sidelined. Get well soon, John.

— Since we’re talking about injuries, Louisville’s Mike Marra may have suffered a career-ending injury today in practice. Marra has been ravaged by injury throughout his career as a Cardinal, and was looking to return for his senior season and be a contributor from behind the arc. He blew out his ACL within the first ten minutes of his first full-scale workout. The rivalry between the Cats and the Cards will always be heated, but it’s never cool to see players go down with injuries, especially ones as serious as this.

— Switching gears to the gridiron… Holy Toledo did we have some controversy flare today. Reports came out of a Bleed Blue Kentucky source that a Joker Phillips “resignation is pending,” and that he would not be retained as head coach for next season.

— Those rumors were quickly squashed by another KSR source, who says the report is “100 percent false.”  What did we learn? Absolutely nothing. Surely there will be more of this popping up in the very near future. As Matt suggested earlier in the week, tread carefully going forward.

— Offensive lineman Zach West and defensive lineman Mike Douglas have been named game captains for tomorrow’s game against South Carolina.

— It’s not the real Jadeveon Clowney, but it’s still mildly funny. And sort of true. It would be ideal if the team could rally around all the negativity, stand up for their coach, and pull off a miracle on ESPN2.

We can dream, right?

— Cincinnati Reds fans! Homer Bailey tossed a no-hitter tonight against the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Bailey is the first Reds pitcher to throw a no-no since Tom Browning did it in 1988. A special season in the Queen City gets better. And it’s still not over yet.

— One of the greatest high school rivalries in the nation is between Louisville Trinity and St. Xavier. The Shamrocks and Tigers met at Papa John Cardinal Stadium tonight in front of 30,000 fans. The Rocks won the game 34-7.

— Alex Poythress, Willie Cauley-Stein, Archie Goodwin and Julius Mayes? Can you help us out? Jarrod Polson and Kyle Wiltjer want to know, “Where da snap backs at?”

Hoping that someone in BBN can help me out. I recently moved to Vancouver, WA. I was just wondering if there is a UK contingent out here and if so, is there a UK-friendly bar where the games are televised. Thanks in advance.

I started thinking about the senior night loss to GA and wanted to reread the comments from that night. I came across this gem.

I know I said it was done until September but I have to say this. If Gillispie leaves by being fired, this program won’t return to prominence for at least 6-10 years.

I’m not calling the guy out by any means, none of us could have seen what was only a few weeks away. Read the comments from that night and tell me you don’t love Cal even more.

BBK is far more reliable than any other site on football related topics. That is why people that sniff around the BBK donor board for info. That is the place to get the best information for football, this place is just what it claims to be be ridiculous. It offers very little substance for football fans.

lol, unfortunately, our team is incapable of making Clowny regret making those statements. If anyting, they’ll probably just show the world that he was right. but seeing them do otherwise would be awful sweet.
