As a member of the greatest fan base in the world, there have been few times I have been more proud to say I was part of the Big Blue Nation than last Friday. The benefit show you guys did for the people of West Liberty was amazing. In todayโ€™s society, its not every day you get to see people from all over unite for the greater good. What started with a caller suggestion, turned into a fan base uniting to help out in whatever way possible. The easy thing to do would have been just dismiss Rose and move on, but you guys decided to take the idea and run with it. I just wanted to take a bit of time to say โ€œthank youโ€ to Matt and everyone who made it possible. I donโ€™t live anywhere near West Liberty, but Iโ€™m sure Friday will go a long way in lifting their spirits and helping the town get on the fast track to recovery. Anybody that has seen my comments knows I like to have fun on here and make jokes, but its times like Friday that makes it really special to say you are a part of the BBN.

Matt, many UK students don’t get the opportunity to physically go to your shows. It seems like when you’re on location in Louisville it’s during the school year and when you’re in Lex it’s during the summer before most of us are back.

Ok, Im gonna go on and say it. If we are supposed to be excited because Max Smith led a 14 play 90+ yd drive we are in trouble… if we are having to do that against our own Defense what happens in the SEC? That also shows HORRIBLE 3rd down defense. I’m worried, VERY WORRIED.

Went to the football scrimmage Saturday. The “mysterious freshman” has to be Demarcus Sweat. He returned to back to back kickoffs for long gains beyond the 50. One of those he went all the way inside the 10 yard line. Our return game has a chance to be explosive with him involved. Also, I really like Coshik Williams at tailback, hopefully he’ll recover quickly from his injury. The offense started the scrimmage with 4-5 run plays all of which were for 5 yards plus with Coshik bursting through the line. He looks to be the real deal and the combo of him and Clemons could be awesome if they both get healthy enough to play together. Maxwell Smith will definitely be the QB. He looks very much in control of the offense. He has the look of a veteran Mike Hartline. Like Coach Sanders said, he was making the appropriate throws to the right receiver when they became open. That long “98 yard drive” was very sharp and executed to perfection. That is the type of drive that will win a ball game in the fourth quarter.

Just some notes I wanted to share.. Really looking forward to September 2nd. Louisville doesnt know whats about to hit them! GO CATS!

I have a theory that most if not all UL know absolutley nothing about their sports teams prior to the 1980’s. I think it would be great to have Drew go around and quiz their fans on anything that happened before then. Hell ask them questions about anything that happened prior to the mid 90’s and they probably don’t have much of a clue about that either.

They have techniques in Rock, Paper, Scissors. It’s best 2 out of 3, and each strategy has a name. For instance the “Fist full of Dollars” technique, which is Rock, Paper, then Paer. Or the “Paper Dolls” technique, which is Paper, Scissors, Scissors.

When thinking about Rock, Paper, Scissors, I think about that famous scene in “The Princess Bride,” when the two men drink the poison. It’s just guessing what you opponent is thinking.

In a canoe, you basically sit in a low chair. Your knees are up off of the bottom. In a kayak, you sit almost directly on the bottom with your legs out in front of you. Also, a kayak is usually more narrow and you paddle with a two sided paddle. In a canoe, you use an single sided oar alternating sides when paddling.

  234. RUPPS_rhetoric

A kayak is like what Ryan said, it only has a little port for the body to fit into. You can wear a vest that seals around the opening so you can roll it like Ryan said. You also use a double sided paddle. A canoe is also like Ryan said. Its open to the top, and is almost always longer than its wide. You typically use a single one sided unfixed paddle with it. They usually have bench seats. A rowing boat (skull) as in the Olympics are very long and very slender. The oars are fixed mounted and when more than one person is on one they only have 1 sided paddles. However they do have single skulls that are fixed mounted, that the person uses two single sided paddles. Usually in a skulling boat the seat(s) also slide. Then you have a typical row boat that more than one person can sit side by side with one sided paddles that sit in a saddle of sorts to help keep the pivot in the same place.

  238. Linda Taylor
    11:41 am August 20, 2012 Permalink

Goodness, a rowing scull has a mechanism that you sit on that slides back and forth so that your legs help power your stroke. You also can have oars on both sides of the scull that are attached to the side. A canoe is completely open and you use a paddle. If you turn it upside down you’re in trouble and will fall out of the boat. You sit inside a kayak and if you turn upside down you don’t fall out of the boat, you can turn the boat upright again if you know what you are doing and the boat doesn’t fill with water because of how it’s made, it has some kind of pliable covering at the opening that you cinch around your waist.

Why does ND get special treatment because they donโ€™t have to be in a conference? Wait, what?!?! Louisville fan showing his knowledge.

Notre Dame gets to do all of that because of NBC. They have a contract with them to show all of their games on tv every week. When this runs out they will be forced into a conference.

Matt, I’ve solved the big, Dynamite delima, A HUGE UL ball would kill the dynamite, y, well I dont know cuz that’s a fricken big ugly ball I guess. Think about how many flea markets u gotta go too to get 1 of those.

canoeing is a small boat like the Indians used. It tips over very easy and is just a boat hull. Their design suits calm waters. Kyacking is a closed top boat that can tip and roll and keep on going. The only opening in the boat is the whole for the driver to sit in. They can handle major rapids as well as calm waters. And I would assume that rowing is in a boat that is longer than a canoue with multiple riders working in sequence… My source? Good old common sense.

253 UK would be a bowl team every year if they were in the Big East…UL would not be a top 10 team in the SEC and they are the favorite

notre dame getting special treatment in football doesnt really make sense, seeing as how they haven’t been a top 5 team in years
