Auburn To The SEC East?

UGA PHOTO

With conference expansion continuing to be delayed and discussed, a number of potential new teams have been named as joining the SEC.  It seems as if every possibility is being considered and with the talk of adding teams like Missouri some division realignment is beginning to be talked about.  The latest news, brought to us by the Birmingham News, is that Auburn is open to the idea of moving to the SEC East.  Here’s the quote:

“If that’s what it took, if you ever went to 14 (SEC members) and needed to make it work, that wouldn’t be something I would be upset about.  I don’t see any real difference. We already play Georgia, a longtime rival.”

Personally it sounds like a win/win to me.  Auburn gets to move out of the currently monstrous SEC west, and Kentucky gets to add Auburn to the yearly schedule.  Now, I’m not trying to say Auburn is a great team to have to play every year – after all they won the championship last year – but Kentucky has managed to play better against Auburn than would be expected the past couple meetings so it’s not a team I would shy away from.  Add Auburn and WVU to the SEC East and the number of ‘winnable’ games goes up by two.

WVU, will not be in the SEC. At best they are four or five schools in front of them.

I thought the SEC got rid of the East and West divisions.

Holy crap, Will Stein (UL QB) is the smallest freaking QB i have ever seen. he’s 5’9 which is insane, but he is soooo skinny. Honestly looks like an underclassmen…..in high school.

He also just threw a pick 6 to to put FIU up 7-0 early in the 1st quarter.

It wouldn’t be a for long change. If you really think about it, when we get up to 16 teams, this format is clearly the best. http://kentuckysportsradio.com/?p=87759 Why wouldn’t we be able to have 4 divisions? NCAA regulations or something?

Ummm, the last two years weve played auburn, we beat them once, and lost to them by 3 points on a last second field goal the other time. Cam Newton is gone. To say auburn is NOT a “winnable” game is ridiculous. Of course it’s winnable. So is WVU, even more so. Just because UK didnt beat WKU by as much as they should have doesn’t mean that UK is suddenly the worst football program ever to walk the earth. Good Lord, some of you are the biggest bunch of babies i’ve ever seen.

I was at the Swamp restaurant today in Gainesville, Florida. While I’m having my business meeting Tim Couch walks in and sits down at the table next to me with with his Fox Sports South crew. I’m very careful about bothering people that have attained some level of celebrity so I just sat there and did not bother him. Then a few drops of rain started dropping so everybody started moving inside. As I passed Tim I said “Go Cats” and a big smile came across his face. He was very nice and very engaging. Nice day in the Swamp.

If you add WVU, Auburn would stay in the West. Obviously. The only way they move to the East is if a team further west than Auburn, AL wants to join the conference (see Mizzu). As for people thinking Auburn is a winnable game, I don’t consider LSU a winnable game, and we beat them before too.

Remain calm-all is well on Floyd Street. Tommy Turtleneck says we are a 2nd half team. Keep the faith and have another cup of red Kool-aid. We are a national power in football.

Too bad Deenor and Vanetti won’t be on the air tomorrow to comment on this game. It would be the most fun I’ve had listening to them since Morehead St.

@ 15 , Right, and they beat LSU once in the last 25 years as well. Im not bashing the program but to see these post is what is ridiculous. They got to the music city bowl, and happy to be there. That is a great season for them.

What an idiot!!! Even suggesting that by getting to play Auburn every year and WVA on a rotating basis is wrong on all levels. First of all, if WVA gets in they would be the team in the east not Auburn. Look at a map you moron.Secondly, how long have you been watching UK football, 2 years? Look at the history before you make yourself look like you know nothing about the subject that you are writing about.

Two more wins for KY football against WV and Auburn. LMAO Maybe we would get 2 wins combined in a 5 yr period.

When Joker starts SIGNING 4 & 5 star recruits on a regular basis, we can make Auburn and WVU “winnable”. Until then, we should keep our outlook in check on winning in the SEC. Recruit the deep South better Joker! Shoutout to Fayette Co. GA star in the making Josh Clemons. GO CATS!

As both an Auburn alum and UK alum there is no way that UK is on the same level as Auburn in football talent, and yeah they have played them well the past 2 years, but you can barely compete and beat the teams that Auburn beats on a regular basis (Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and the teams in the west) you can’t really say that a game against Auburn is a winnable game with a straight face.

You seem to have a short memory because, even though we have played them tough the last couple years, I still remember some major beatings those guys laid on us. It seems like their RB’s always make our defense look sorry as hell. I also remember when we beat Alabama and LSU…that doesn’t mean I expect to beat those guys either.

UK’s all time record vs. Auburn is 5-24-1. What is it about that futile record that makes an annual game vs. Auburn “winnable”? “Kentucky has managed to play better against Auburn than would be expected the past couple meetings”? geez. As somebody else said, try looking at about the last 40 years of UK football rather than just the last 2 to come up with that baloney.
