I really liked this article over at the Sea of Blue website, which talks about the reasons Cal would never leave Lexington to go to Cleveland. It lays out the argument for staying at UK pretty well, and for some reason makes me more comfortable with the situation.
“LeBron and Calipari are not that kind of friends. It will not happen because Cleveland will not be willing to offer enough. It will not happen because Dan Gilbert is not going to yield that kind of control to Calipari, who unlike Izzo, has no real connections to him or the Cleveland franchise.”
When you add onto that the Cavs are unlikely to be able to pay the amount of money needed to get Coach Calipari, then more and more it seems like a LOCK that we will experience Year 2 of the Cal Era this upcoming season.
Here is my question for you all though: If the Cavs offered Calipari $10 million dollars a year to coach their team, would you still be angry at him if he left? I gotta say, I can’t blame a guy for taking that kind of money, in much of the same way you couldn’t blame Pitino for taking the Celtics deal.
