Archie Goodwin wants to hear you “burr”
Since the Calipari era began, every team has had a trademark “meme” to it: the John Wall dance, Jorts, Three Goggles, and the Unibrow. When Nerlens Noel twirled his chair around and unveiled the UK logo in his flat top fade, it became a thing of legend, with fans across the Bluegrass trying to figure out how to grow one before October. Now, Archie Goodwin brings us “burr.”
A few weeks ago, Archie posted a video shoutout to the Big Blue Nation, which ended with him shouting “BURR” into the camera. Needless to say, most of us were pretty confused. After some research, we learned that “burr” is a reference to rapper Gucci Mane, and describes either icy jewelry (hence the “burr” from being cold) or “goin’ hard.”
Last night, Archie Goodwin tried to take “burr” to the next level with this tweet:

I took a super ghetto american history class in high school. One day we had to do presentations on a random supreme court case. I got the United States vs. Aaron Burr. I stood up to do my 2 minute recap of the case, but as soon as I said “Aaron Burr”, everybody in the class started shouting “BURR! BURR! BURR! BURR!”.
So thats what this reminds me of.

Gucci is arguably the worst rapper in the game (other than Soulja boy) and sounds retarded when he says burr. Let’s come up with something original, or at least something from a decent rapper.
We’re going to hear the same complaints from the same age groups as we did when the Nike Platinum jerseys come out. I’m 27. While I wouldn’t make this request, I won’t fault a teenager for making it. These kids don’t play the game for the middle-aged codgers and the old boys who hang around the gas station saying they went to UK when Rupp was in Lexington. I’m fine with it.
I don’t get it. Besides, we say BLUE! WHITE!
I’m pretty sure if 20,000 people all yell “Burr!” at once, in an arena, it will sound alot like “Boooo!”. So no, I can’t see this happening.
I can’t think of anything funnier than if the rupp faithful (especially those over 40) were to yell out BURR en masse. That would be AWESOME!

Kid doesn’t lack for confidence . . . but I agree with the “get here and do something first” crowd . . . then maybe I “can chill with Arch and burr.”
You know, I can’t figure out if half of you are UofL or IU fans or just BBN’s own brand of haters. Why belittle and make fun of kids who commit to us? And after the Bennett fiasco on Twitter, it’s really not all that surprising that others are committing elsewhere. Please, can we just help the coaching staff out by not hating on the team? The guys playing can do whatever they want with each other as teammates. It was that way for my teams too.

Before posting, ask yourself: “If I were trying to encourage an uncommitted Archie Goodwin (et al.) to sign with UK, would I say this to his face?” If the answer is no, keep the comment to yourself. Constructive criticism is one thing, but the way lost recruits and players (see Terrence Jones during his “slump”) are blasted on here is Wildcat heresy.
