The pictures and videos from Calipari’s pro camps keep pouring in, as do some great stories about the players’ interactions with the campers. This one in particular made me smile. KSR reader Bill McKinney sent in a story about his nine-year-old daughter, Elise, who participated in the camp this week. Elise was on Archie Goodwin’s team, and had the opportunity to play alongside Archie all day.
However, near the end of the day, Elise tripped and banged her knee on the court. Archie saw her fall and immediately scooped her up and carried her to the trainer. Fortunately, it was only a bruised knee and after the staff iced it a while, she was able to get back out on the court. Despite being busy with other campers, Archie made it a point to come check on Elise throughout the rest of the session.
Bill says that “Archie appeared to be having as much if not more fun than any child at the camp and it was obvious the way he took care of my daughter that he truly cared for each one of them. Archie is a very classy young man and a great role model.”
